Making Memories at the Cornish Cove by Kim Nash #Review

We are back with the Cornish Cove series with Kim Nash's Making Memories at the Cornish Cove . It was published by Boldwood Books on April 17th. You can read my review of  Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove here and Finding Family at the Cornish Cove   here .    It’s never too late… After five husbands and five broken hearts, Lydia feels like she’s always been chasing something. But now she’s found her purpose, and having moved to Driftwood Bay to spend more time with her daughter Meredith, she’s happier than ever. But there’s still life in these old bones yet! With her newfound sense of identity, she’s keen to re-explore the things that made her happy as a younger person. Lydia’s passion was dancing – she used to compete in her younger years, and there’s no place she’s more at home than on the dancefloor. The Wedding Cake Wish by Rosie Green #Review #LittleDuckPondSeries #Novella

Welcome to Book 17 in the marvellous Little Duck Pond Cafe series of novellas, with The Wedding Cake Wish by Rosie Green. I am loving being back in Sunnybrook!

Wedding excitement is in the air! With their big day approaching, Fen has her heart set on a gorgeous, intimate celebration with not much fuss at all. But strong-minded mother-of-the-bride Marjery seems to have considerably grander plans. There's also the small problem of a missing best man, and when Fen tasks Hudson Holmes and Ruby Watkiss with the job of tracking him down, their investigations unearth far more secrets than they bargained for. Will the Big Day go ahead in the light of such dramatic revelations? Can a wedding cake wish save the day? One thing's for sure – this will definitely be a wedding to remember!

 My Thoughts

This clever little series has an extra twist. This is the third of a trilogy within the Little Duck Pond Cafe series which feature Hudson Holmes and Ruby Watkiss, who have turned out to be a pair of amateur sleuths. There is a lovely mingling of cosy crime with the romance of the Little Duck Pond characters. There are plenty of twists within this story and plenty to keep you hooked up to the end? Will Hudson and Ruby get together? I suspect we will have to wait and see! There is plenty of chemistry to be going on with.

Life for some of the other main characters is pretty hectic with Fen and Rob's wedding preparations taking over, much to their consternation. You get to find out quite a bit about Fen's family's past as the story progresses, with mother / daughter relationship centre stage. Written from the twin perspectives of Fen and Ruby, you are able to follow both their stories. Full of the warmth and uplifting tone of the rest of the series, this could be read as a standalone but frankly, I'd recommend reading the others to appreciate the whole Sunnybrook world!

In short: An entertaining and  life- enhancing read!

About the Author

Rosie’s series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. The latest, ‘A Summer of Surprises', is out now.

Look out for ‘Snow Falls over Sunnybrook’, a heart-warming Christmas delight, out in November 2021. As snow drifts down over the village, will romance finally blossom for one very special pair?
