Don't You Want Me Baby? by Rachel Dove #Review

I am delighted to be on the tour to celebrate the latest romcom by R achel Dove,   Don't You Want Mr Baby? which was published by  Boldwood Books on 15th November .    Amber Fitzpatrick is about to hit thirty and has achieved none of the things she hoped to have done by now. Her dreams of owning her own business seem out of reach. Her boyfriend has just dumped her and now her biological clock is clanging in her head. But maybe Amber doesn’t need a man for the next stage of her life? Maybe as an independent woman she can have a baby all by herself? There’s only one problem. Handsome but excruciatingly annoying best friend Tyler Williams. Tyler thinks Amber’s motherhood plans are plain crazy! She just needs to wait for Mr. Right to come along…and maybe he’s closer than she thinks? But with Amber hellbent on doing it alone, Tyler sets out to prove to her that being her best friend could also come with excellent benefits…if only she's brave enough to take the chance.

Spring at The Little Duck Pond Cafe by Rosie Green ** Blog Tour Review & Giveaway**

I'm happy to welcome you to my stop on the first day of the blog tour for Rosie Green's Spring at The Little Duck Pond Cafe. I also have a Giveaway for you and the chance to win a wooden duck ornament and chocolates (UK only). Details on how to enter are at the foot of this post. There is also the intriguing question of Who is Rosie Green? - but more of that later.

Fleeing from a romance gone wrong, Ellie Farmer arrives in the pretty little village of Sunnybrook, hoping for a brand new start that most definitely does not include love! Following an unscheduled soak in the village duck pond, she meets Sylvia, who runs the nearby Duck Pond Café. Renting the little flat above the café seems like the answer to Ellie's prayers. It's only for six months, which will give her time to sort out her life, far away from cheating boyfriend Richard.

But is running away from your past ever really the answer?

Clashing with the mysterious and brooding Zack Chamberlain, an author with a bad case of writer's block, is definitely not what Ellie needs right now. And then there's Sylvia, who's clinging so hard to her past, she's in danger of losing the quaint but run-down Duck Pond Café altogether.

Can Ellie find the answers she desperately needs in Sunnybrook? And will she be able to help save Sylvia's little Duck Pond Café from closure?

My Thoughts

What a gentle, delightful read this novella turned out to be. I sat down and read it in one sitting, one cold Saturday and just loved the village setting, full of slightly quirky characters and good intentions- well from nearly everyone anyway! It feels as though Ellie arrives in the village at a time of change for the people she meets. Trying to get away from her memories of a relationship which has gone sour, she is ready for new opportunities and has enough courage to take a leap of faith.

I found the story of her Mum very touching, with warm and emotional moments. Sylvia too has bags of character and a kind heart. There is plenty of romance at the centre of the story but more besides: ageing parents, coming to terms with family relationships, letting go of the past and taking a chance. Rosie Green has created a lovely little community in the first novella and I am hoping to visit these characters again.

In short: warm moments, family love and romance to savour.

About the Author

Rosie Green has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all, unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love.

Rosie’s brand new series of novellas is centred on life in a village café. The first, Spring at the Little Duck Pond Café, is out on March 22nd 2018.

Rosie Green is the new penname for a traditionally published author who you may know- any guesses? Look at the Giveaway below for a clue.
