A French Inheritance by Jennifer Bohnet #review

I am delighted to feature another of Jennifer Bohnet's skilful novels. A French Inheritance was published on September 15th by Boldwood Bo oks. Every moment is a new beginning on the French Riviera 🇫🇷🌼 Five years ago, Adam and Lucy Belgrave took the plunge and bought a sprawling rundown farm in the South of France to bring back to life, much against the advice of Adam’s brother, Elliot. Today, that dream is becoming a reality and the farm is beginning to thrive and Elliot finds himself grateful for the refuge it provides after his career falters and his marriage fails. After the death of her beloved granny, a bitter divorce and surprise redundancy - the saying ’sad things come in threes’ resonates with Briony Dymond's life. With her mother by her side, Briony travels to France to learn some news that will change her life completely. Will she have the courage to embrace granny Giselle’s special wishes? As spring returns to the French Riviera both Elliot and Br...

Snug in Iceland by Victoria Walker #Review

Who wouldn't enjoy a romantic escape to Iceland to see the Northern Lights? Victoria Walker's Snug in Iceland was published on October 1st by Ever After Books.

Rachel Richards is stuck in a rut. Her boyfriend Adam barely notices her most of the time and her life in London isn’t as exciting as it should be. When the company she works for, Snug, asks her to oversee the opening of a new store in Iceland, she jumps at the chance for a change of scenery. Exploring Reykjavik with the help of Icelandic tour guide Jonas, Rachel discovers that life is out there waiting to be lived. As she falls in love with Iceland, she begins to see what is important to her and wonders whether the life she left behind is what she wants after all…

 My Thoughts

This is such an enjoyable read. The story takes you off to Iceland with Rachel who at the beginning seems to have the ideal life going in London. Pretty soon, you begin to suspect there are a few cracks in her relationship with Adam and that actually this seemingly great lifestyle is covering up for her dissatisfaction. The trip to set up a new retail outlet in Reykjavik offers her the chance to re-evaluate everything. It also shows us a gorgeous place, full of snow, sparkle and cosy touches. The Northern Lights add that magical touch.

The description of life in Iceland, and the warmth of the characters she meets there, paint such an enticing picture. Can Rachel take a risk and start over or will she return to her safe life? No spoilers here, but if you are looking for an uplifting story to snuggle up with on a col wintry night, this is ideal.

In short: Warm characters and gorgeous scenery
