Once Upon a Thyme by Jane Lovering #Review

It is a pleasure to feature Jane Lovering's  Once Upon a Thyme which was published by Boldwood Books on June 24th.   All her life, Natalie Fisher has been taught not to ask questions. Why risk uncovering uncomfortable truths, when you can stay in the safety of blissful denial? Since taking over the family herb farm, Natalie has stuck with what she knows, rarely venturing much further than the nearby village where her invalid mother now lives. But then, one day, everything changes with the arrival of unexpected visitors. First comes Zeb, employed by Natalie’s mother to help with the business but soon hinting at other motives. Then comes Simon with the famous band he manages, wanting to film in Natalie’s beautiful garden. Welcome to Pepper Bay, where you’ll find love, drama, and a happily ever after.

Snuggle down with this cosy, feel-good, comfort read that whisks you away to a beautiful bay on the Isle of Wight – Perfect for fans of Christie Barlow, Alison Sherlock, Rachael Lucas, and Holly Martin.

The Pepper Bay books are standalone stories that intertwine with recurring characters. Best enjoyed when read in order.

Castle on the Mead: Harrison Connell leads a quiet life, but Ashley Hadley is determined to get him to come out of his shell. When she gets the chance to move into his castle, she sets about putting the old building back on the map. Harrison doesn’t want his home to become a tourist attraction, but that’s the least of his worries, as someone seems determined to destroy him, or maybe it’s Ashley they want to hurt.

 My Thoughts

We are back in Pepper Bay for another visit to the Isle of Wight. There are some familiar characters and Ashley's family are as close knit and concerned as ever. Ashley is a determined character who has set her sights on Harrison, determined to break through his apparent shyness and get to know him better. They are a well matched pair, although it takes time for their friendship to develop.

The Castle on the Mead is a lovely setting which Ashley remembers from her childhood. To Harrison, it is something of a fortress but the locals look on it with interest as a familiar landmark. Both Ashley and Harrison like to keep their lives private. Ashley loves the space and the quiet after her busy childhood home. In the background, there is jealousy and more than one mystery to uncover. This is just as enjoyable as previous Pepper Bay stories, with an ever-widening cast but the same community feeling.

In short: Love and jealousy are a potent mix

About the Author

Hello, I'm K.T. Dady. I'm the bestselling author of the Pepper Bay series. I'm also a chocolate lover, mum to a grown-up daughter, and a huge fan of a HEA. I was born and raised in the East End of London, and I've been happily writing stories since I was a little girl. When I'm not writing, I'm reading, baking cakes, or pottering around in my little garden in Essex, trying not to kill the flowers.
