Summer Secrets at Duck Pond Cottage by Della Galton #DuckPondCottageBook2 #Review #PublicationDay

I am loving returning to the Duck Pond Cottage series by Della Galton . Summer Secrets at Duck Pond Cottage is published today by Boldwood Books on February 22nd.   Can love conquer all? Jade and Finn are idyllically happy in their little corner of rural Wiltshire. A rescue centre jampacked with animals keeps them super busy. With Finn’s art going from strength to strength, Jade can’t believe they’re living the dream until an arrogant property developer with questionable motives jeopardises their perfect lives and the future plans of the rescue centre. Jade and Finn both have trust issues and they’ve promised there’ll be no more secrets. But keeping promises is harder than either of them imagined, especially where Finn’s past is concerned. Living with Mr Spock the potty-mouthed parrot and Mickey the dog who barks at TV baddies there's never a dull moment at Duck Pond Rescue. But will the humans get their ‘happy-ever-after’ too? Can they lay the ghosts of the ...

The Post Office Shop by K T Dady #Review #PepperBayBook5

The Post Office Shop is the fifth in the Pepper Bay series by K T Dady. I am delighted to be on the first day of the tour to celebrate its publication.  You can read my reviews of others in the series here,  Starlight Cottage |   Honeybee CottagePepper Pot Farm | Lemon Drop Cottage.

Welcome to Pepper Bay. A small close-knit community where you’ll find chocolate box cottages, quaint shops, love, drama, and a happily ever after.

Snuggle down with this cosy, feel-good, comfort read that whisks you away to a beautiful bay on the Isle of Wight – Perfect for fans of Christie Barlow, Phillipa Ashley, and Holly Martin.

The Pepper Bay books are standalone stories, best read in order, that intertwine with recurring characters.

The Post Office Shop: Tilly Sheridan is fifty, perimenopausal, a widow, and pretty much lives in dungarees. Her daily life consists of running her family’s small shop on Dreamcatcher Farm, where not much goes on. The last thing she expects to happen in her life is to fall in love with an ex-criminal.

Rory Murphy has just finished a fifteen-year sentence for robbery, but he is not the man who first walked into that prison. With the help of a mentor, he changed his life whilst still behind bars, and now he has been given the opportunity of working on a farm to help him integrate back into society. He’s expecting early starts, long days, backbreaking work, and lonely nights, but he finds friendship, family, and love in Pepper Bay. Is it possible for him to finally have a good life? Not if his past has anything to do with it.

 My Thoughts

The central figures in this fifth standalone story in the Pepper Bay series are not your usual boy meets girl types. They are both a little more mature, with their own back stories and Rory in particular has an interesting vibe. Recently released from prison, you cannot make snap judgements about him and as his background emerges, you get to understand what led him to that fate. The chemistry between Tilly and Rory is obvious from the start but will they have the courage to take a risk?

Tilly's family come over as protective of her but as a decent and considerate family who stick together and who are willing to give people the benefit of the doubt and a second chance. This is a great addition to the series and of course, you get to meet up with some familiar characters from previous novels. I always enjoy a series which focuses on a community and Pepper bay is so appealing, I can only look forward to more of the same. I wonder who we will meet next?

In short: Starting over and second chances

About the Author

Bestselling author of the Pepper Bay series, reader, mum, chocolate lover, and a huge fan of a HEA. I was born and raised in the East End of London, and I’ve been happily writing stories since I was a little girl. When I’m not writing, I’m baking cakes or pottering around in my little garden in Essex, trying not to kill the flowers. I’m the author of contemporary romance, middle-grade, and the thought-provoking thriller about mental illness, The Focus Program.
