Will there actually be a wedding?   My Thoughts In this latest festive story, we are taken out of Sunnybrook, in fact, out of the country and taken for a wintry stay in Lapland. It is Maddy's hen party gathering so some of the Little Duck Pond characters are along too. The story continues on from the earlier Cosy Nights and Snowball Fights . The setting is idyllic and so different to life at home. Everything shimmers and shines in the snow and the temperatures are extreme. Today I am delighted to be featuring another romcom by Zara Stoneley. Meet Me On Platform 3 is published today by One More Chapter. 

 
Two people. One journey…

Millie loves her city life, her city friends and writing her true(ish) confessions column – but she’s starting to wonder if the grass really is greener on the other side, or if her heart really belongs back in Northumberland, with her mum who is struggling after the death of Millie’s dad.

Joe is happy doing what he does, writing games. He could do it anywhere, but since leaving home he’s lived believing that looking back means you’ve failed, and life is about taking chances and seeing the world.

So when the two meet up surely it can never work, their lives are moving in opposite directions. On different tracks…


 My Thoughts

I enjoyed the humour and wit in this latest romcom and found it to be a light and fun read. The pull of home in Northumberland is strong where Millie is concerned and although she has moved to London to fulfil her writing ambitions, she spends a lot of time travelling home. The irony is that you realise that her visits home are probably more for her benefit than her Mum's who seems to be moving on and establishing her own needs.

    I enjoyed the plotline and the friendship which develops with Joe. Sparked by a chance meeting, I looked forward to each of Millie's journeys to see what would happen next. Millie and Joe have a different attitude to how much of their lives they want to share on social media. You can also compare their family relationships. Joe has strong ties with his parents and sibling, but is looking forward to his future life in London. The dynamic in the Millie's family is interesting with Millie's sister avoiding visiting home for her own  reasons and Millie looking back to her childhood. With a lively plot and likeable characters, this is an enjoyable late summer read.
