The Disgraced Knight's Redemption by Ella Matthews #Review TheKnightsMissionsSeriesBook3

The Disgraced Knight's Redemption, the third in Ella Matthews' series, The Knight's Missions, was published by Harlequin Historicals on October 23rd.    A disgraced warrior… Torn between duty and desire! Sir Tristan must win back his honor. His orders from King Edward are simple: seek out the leader of Pwll Du Castle—the unmarried Lady Catrin—and demand she leaves. As Tristan is renowned for his lethal charm and handsome looks, how can she resist? But when the beautiful Welshwoman comes under siege from her covetous neighbor, Tristan finds himself fighting for her! Yet, is it a losing battle? For securing the castle and fulfilling his knightly duty will mean letting Catrin go…  My Thoughts This medieval romance can easily be read as a standalone. You are taken to medieval Wales where Sir Tristan has been tasked by the King to remove Lady Catrin from her position in charge of Pwll Du Castle. You sense from the start his loyalty to his fellow Knights and...

The Wedding Cake by Isabella May #Review #FoodieRomanceJourneys

I am delighted to be featuring Isabella May on the blog today with her latest novel, The Wedding Cake.  I thoroughly enjoyed Isabella's Costa del Churros , Oh! What a Pavlova, The Cocktail Bar,  The Ice Cream Parlour Bubblegum and Blazers, The Custard Tart Cafe by the Sea.

 One summer in Spain.

One accidentally double-booked eight-tier wedding cake that needs to put in a same day appearance at a rustic countryside finca AND a beachside villa.

Two brides.

Two grooms.

Hundreds of hungry guests.

Freya Ashcroft, owner and culinary whizz at Marbella’s five star bakery, is going to need a miracle to ‘save the date’. If only that was her sole dilemma - as luck wouldn't have it, she's also fallen head over heels in love with one of the aforementioned male clients...

 My Thoughts

Under the umbrella of 'foodie romance journeys' this latest from Isabella May does not disappoint. The food sounded delicious and reflected the setting and drew the characters today. Freya is at the centre of the story as she catered for the different couples' weddings and also tried to sort out a few of her own personal issues. Having met River and Alice before, I loved being able to catch up with their story and to see how their own wedding plans panned out. Tim also had my sympathy but oh dear, his love life was certainly complicated and I was willing him to make the right decision.

You are able to contrast some genuine friendships and relationships with the false social media driven motives of a few others. There were plenty of opportunities for humour to be had at their expense. This is an entertaining summer read which whisks you off to Spain, to Marbella and which is filled with the sunshine and food of that beautiful part of the world.

In short: great holiday reading

About the Author

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalusia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the mountains and the sea. She grew up in Somerset on Glastonbury's ley lines and loves to feature her quirky English hometown in her stories.

After a degree in Modern Languages and European Studies at UWE, Bristol (and a year working abroad in Bordeaux and Stuttgart), Isabella bagged an extremely jammy and fascinating job in children's publishing... selling foreign rights for novelty, board, pop-up and non-fiction books all over the world; in every language from Icelandic to Korean, Bahasa Indonesian to Papiamento!

All of which has fuelled her curiosity and love of international food and travel - both feature extensively in her romcoms.
