Summer Secrets at Duck Pond Cottage by Della Galton #DuckPondCottageBook2 #Review #PublicationDay

I am loving returning to the Duck Pond Cottage series by Della Galton . Summer Secrets at Duck Pond Cottage is published today by Boldwood Books on February 22nd.   Can love conquer all? Jade and Finn are idyllically happy in their little corner of rural Wiltshire. A rescue centre jampacked with animals keeps them super busy. With Finn’s art going from strength to strength, Jade can’t believe they’re living the dream until an arrogant property developer with questionable motives jeopardises their perfect lives and the future plans of the rescue centre. Jade and Finn both have trust issues and they’ve promised there’ll be no more secrets. But keeping promises is harder than either of them imagined, especially where Finn’s past is concerned. Living with Mr Spock the potty-mouthed parrot and Mickey the dog who barks at TV baddies there's never a dull moment at Duck Pond Rescue. But will the humans get their ‘happy-ever-after’ too? Can they lay the ghosts of the ...

Together Under a Snowy Skye by Lisa Hobman #Review

It;s time to start thinking about some post Summer reading. To start us off, here's Together Under a Snowy Skye by Lisaa Hobman. It was published by Boldwood Books on 24th August.

After the heartbreak of a secret unrequited love, Millie Treadaway has finally found someone to spend her life with.

Harry Rose is handsome, successful and treats her like a princess. That is until Millie presents her fiancé with a surprise birthday gift, and their future is suddenly doomed.

Eight months later Millie returns to Glentorrin on the Isle of Skye for her best friend Jules’ Christmas wedding. Heartbroken, single and heavily pregnant.

Staying in Lifeboat Cottage with Jules’ brother, kindhearted Dexter, she’s given up on love and resigned herself to be the best single Mum ever.

But a shock phone call from Harry leaves her reeling and doubting herself and her decisions.

Do second chances work? Or is Dexter, right? That she deserves much more?

Can the festive spirit in Glentorrin, and a little stray Jack Russell terrier, heal her heart?

Or is she fated to remain a member of the lonely-hearts club forever?

My Thoughts

I loved returning to the Isle of Skye to catch up with some familiar settings and characters. It's really comforting to see how certain people's lives have panned out, catch up with Jules and to get to know Dexter a little more. Millie is a lovely character who you are willing her on. Treated shabbily by Harry, you just hope that she will figure out what or who will make her happy. The community pf Glentorrin gather to support her and you can totally believe in her reaction to village life.

This is one of those books which will ease you in nicely to some winter reading. Full of romance and with some festive touches, it makes you look forward to the darker nights without being full on Christmassy. Any book with a delightful canine friend gets a vote from me. Full of friendship and family values, this is a great read to escape into.

In short: A welcome return to Glentorrin
