of Egglethwaite, she plans to build a new life for herself with fiancé, Cole.
Keen to raise funds for the struggling village hall she
loved as a child, Becky finds herself at the head of a colourful group aiming
to revive the Egglethwaite Christmas pantomime. But when that festive feeling
sets in, she discovers there's more to panto than innuendo and slapped thighs.
Falling in love was not in the script! But as opening night
grows closer, she starts to wonder if the panto will ever make it to the stage
and, with handsome co-star Marcus on the scene, if she has chosen her right
leading man...

My Thoughts
I read this as a standalone and didn't feel that I was missing out by not having read the first. The community of Egglethwaite is brought together to stage a village pantomime which is a great source of humour. Through the 'amdram' shenanigans, there are some genuinely funny moments and you learn quite a bit about the characters. They can all see what Becky doesn't as regards her relationship with Cole and I must say at times, she was infuriatingly unaware of what was right in front of her nose!
In addition to the romance at the centre, you also get to learn more about different couples and their solutions to childlessness. Adoption is centre stage at one pint as you get to follow a couple through the process. This did give the characters added depth and lives outside the pantomime setting. I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining romance. It captures the 'nudge nudge wink wink' world of the village panto and together with the eccentricities of the villagers, it is full of heart.
In short: An entertaining romcom- 'Oh no it isn't...Oh yes it is...!'

the heart of Brontë country... and she's still there. After graduating from
Durham University with a degree in English Literature, she dallied with living
in cities including London, Nottingham and Cambridge, but eventually came back
with her own romantic hero in tow to her beloved Dales, where she first started
telling stories about heroines with flaws and the men who love them. More
