Jessica Redland's series, The Escape to the Lakes, continues with Tomorrow Starts Today . It is published by Boldwood Books  today on 8th January15th May.    It's never too late to find yourself... 💫 When she unexpectedly loses her husband, Yvonne Kellerman's world turns quiet and grey. Five years on, her days are filled with the gentle chatter of her loyal parrot, Trevor, and the comfort of her crafting table—but she can’t shake the feeling that life is slipping her by and Yvonne feels lost and lonelier than ever. When she joins the local crafting club at Willowdale Village Hall, Yvonne expects nothing more than a few afternoons of sewing. Instead, amongst the other local crafters, she discovers friendship, laughter and a renewed appreciation for her gorgeous Lake District home. Becoming Someone by Anne Goodwin ** Cover Reveal**

I am thrilled to be able to introduce the cover for Anne Goodwin's first Short Story Anthology, Becoming Someone,  on Books, Life and Everything today. The reason I am especially fizzing with excitement is because she has done me the great honour of featuring my quote on the back cover. Wow!

The themes which occur within the short stories I always find totally fascinating- identity, gender, sense of self. Here's a little more to whet your appetite...

What shapes the way we see ourselves?

An administrator is forced into early retirement; a busy doctor needs a break. A girl discovers her sexuality; an older man explores a new direction for his. An estate agent seeks adventure beyond marriage; a photojournalist retreats from an overwhelming world. A woman reduces her carbon footprint; a woman embarks on a transatlantic affair. A widow refuses to let her past trauma become public property; another marks her husband’s passing in style.

Thought-provoking, playful and poignant, these 42 short stories address identity from different angles, examining the characters’ sense of self at various points in their lives. What does it mean to be a partner, parent, child, sibling, friend? How important is work, culture, race, religion, nationality, class? Does our body, sexuality, gender or age determine who we are?

Is identity a given or can we choose the someone we become?

Before we go any further, here's the cover- I think it's beautiful but I am slightly biased!

Becoming Someone is published on November 23rd 2018 by Inspired Quill .
