A Venice Summer by Lynne Shelby #Review

Having enjoyed Lynne Shelby's The Summer of Taking Chances, and Rome for the Summer,  I am delighted to be joining the celebrations for her new summer read, A Venice  Summer . It was published on May 12th by Shaldo Books.    Art conservator Rose Bennet is still reeling from a bad break-up when she is offered a dream job in Venice, restoring an art collection in the Ca’ D’Ambra, a six-hundred-year-old Venetian palazzo. Despite her fears about travelling to a foreign country on her own, Rose is soon heading to Italy for the summer. While she is awestruck by the breathtaking beauty of Venice, Rose finds the owner of the palazzo, the arrogant and short-tempered Luca Casserini, insufferable. When he questions her ability to do her work, she almost heads straight back to London, but decides that she won’t let herself be intimidated or driven away before she’s even had a chance to ride in a gondola. Losing her way in Venice’s picturesque maze of canals and al...

Dreams Come True at Primrose Hall by Jill Steeples #Review #PrimroseWoodsBook3

Here is another visit to Primrose Woods to the nearby Primrose Hall. Dreams come true at Primrose Hall by Jill Steeple was published by Boldwood Books on February 22nd. I am delighted to be part of the celebrations for its launch.

Pia Temple has always had a soft spot for Jackson Moody following a passionate teenage love affair that burnt out over one long summer, more than ten years ago. First loves can be hard to forget, and the devastatingly gorgeous Jackson, is harder to forget than most.

After putting aside her ambitions while she cared for her parents, it is finally time for Pia to think about herself. So, when she’s offered the perfect job running the social calendar at Primrose Hall, with a dreamy flat included, how can she refuse? There’s only one problem… The new owner of the refurbished seventeenth-century manor house set in the idyllic Primrose Woods, is none other than Jackson, the man she’s thought about every day for years.

In a whirl of weddings and craft fairs, literary festivals and tea parties, Pia blossoms in her new role. But with the delectable Jackson a daily distraction, maybe this isn’t the dream job after all – especially when Jackson’s unfeasibly beautiful ex-girlfriend Tara, comes back to visit the hall…

Dreams Come True at Primrose Hall is the perfect feel-good love story to brighten even the darkest day. Just right for fans of Cathy Bramley, Heidi Swain and Julie Houston.

 My Thoughts

I enjoy this series and this latest novel was no exception. I could absolutely visualise Primrose Hall, nestled amidst woodland near Primrose Park and it was good to glimpse life there with some familiar characters. Pia turned out to be a likeable character who puts others before herself and is a kind and caring person. Feeling she has missed out on the challenges which her contemporaries have faced in their twenties, she has nevertheless put caring for others first. Now, however, she has a chance to prove herself. Jackson turned out to have hidden depths and the small community who live in Primrose Hall add to the endearing qualities of the story.

This is a gentle second chance romance. In many ways, Pia has a second chance at more than this, as she starts a new life and job in a new home. Pia has an optimistic side and always tries her best to look on the bright side. In contrast, you have the at times, Jackson, who seems to need to escape away sometimes, despite his success in business. He also has a kind, locally minded side which adds to his appeal. With new friendships and weddings thrown in, it is an heart-warming read and a lovely addition to the series.

In short: Second chances and a fine romance
