Don't You Want Me Baby? by Rachel Dove #Review

I am delighted to be on the tour to celebrate the latest romcom by R achel Dove,   Don't You Want Mr Baby? which was published by  Boldwood Books on 15th November .    Amber Fitzpatrick is about to hit thirty and has achieved none of the things she hoped to have done by now. Her dreams of owning her own business seem out of reach. Her boyfriend has just dumped her and now her biological clock is clanging in her head. But maybe Amber doesn’t need a man for the next stage of her life? Maybe as an independent woman she can have a baby all by herself? There’s only one problem. Handsome but excruciatingly annoying best friend Tyler Williams. Tyler thinks Amber’s motherhood plans are plain crazy! She just needs to wait for Mr. Right to come along…and maybe he’s closer than she thinks? But with Amber hellbent on doing it alone, Tyler sets out to prove to her that being her best friend could also come with excellent benefits…if only she's brave enough to take the chance.

Quilling me Softly by Nigel May #Review #Giveaway

Today we have a cosy mystery on the blog: Quilling me Softly by Nigel May. There is also a great crafty International giveaway with £150! For details on how to enter, see the details at the foot of this post.

Meet the craft group swapping decoupage for deception and glues for clues…

Violet Brewer is the owner of Rooney-at-Burrow’s charming wool shop, Brewer’s Loop, and the organiser of its weekly crafting group. Nothing much usually happens in the sleepy little English village. Until now.

But when Sir Buster Burniston, much-loved owner of nearby Burrow Hall, is found dead, a cloud of mystery lingers in the village air. Or at least it does for Violet and her fellow craft mates in Team C.R.A.B – the Crafters of Rooney-at-Burrow. They are certain that the old man’s death might not be as cut and dried as Violet’s police officer nephew, Samuel, seems to think. Violet has lived in the village for over sixty years, and something tells her and her creative pals that there is more behind Sir Buster’s sad demise. Violet and her friends are determined to turn detective, despite what her nephew says. And soon murder is on the cards at their meet and make sessions as they discover a mystery that needs to be unpicked stitch by stitch…

 My Thoughts

This has all the hallmarks of a cosy mystery with its rural setting and cast of local characters. The local craft group is a lovely mixture of quirky characters, all drawn together through their love of all things crafty. The mystery which surrounds the death of Sir Buster Burniston thickens as the would-be detectives try to get to the bottom of the suspicious events. There are plenty of clues abounding and surprises as the crafters unpick the suspicious death.

If you are looking for a light-hearted and humorous read, you will enjoy this one. There is a charm to life in the typically English village which suits the cosy crime genre. The characters add such colour to the picture of daily life and all the phrases about ‘unpicking the truth’ are so appropriate for this band of crafters.

In short: varied characters add humour to this cosy crime story
