It is now 1943 and we follow the lives of the Home Front Nurses as they cope with the effects of the Second World War. Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses by Rachel Brimble is published on February 13th by Boldwood Books .     ‘Come on, Kathy… tell me a secret.’ 1943: Becoming a Home Front nurse, meant Kathy Scott was finally able to escape the violence of her childhood. At long last, her life has taken a turn for the better. Particularly because, for the very first time, she’s made some wonderful friends–fellow nurses Sylvia, Freda and Veronica. Booked for Summer by Kathryn Freeman #Review

I love all Kathyrn Freeman's romcoms so I am delighted to be part of the celebrations for her latest, Booked For Summer which was published by One More Chapter on April  30th.

A love story she didn't see coming…

When book lover Jade Taylor applies to manage the Little Bay Book Shack on Nantucket Island over the summer, the last thing she needs is the distraction of billionaire resort owner, Liam Haven.

But things take an unexpected turn when Liam becomes Jade’s boss – a man who reads nothing but contracts for pleasure…

In a bid to save the bookshop from being absorbed into the Haven resort, Jade is determined to teach Liam that there’s more to life than acquiring real estate. And if she can make him realise happily ever afters do exist, might she be able to save the island’s bookshop in the process?

 My Thoughts

This is a totally escapist read which takes you away to the beautiful and exclusive Nantucket Island.  On the surface, Jade and Liam are opposites. She has her feet on the ground and a fairly normal upbringing. Liam on the other hand is the Billionaire owner of the hotel complex. However, you soon find out that Liam's background is not a silver spoon one and that he has vulnerabilities and insecurities.   They are both likeable characters who you can get invested in.

Jade has come to the resort with big plans to get involved in the running of the bookshop. Liam has zero interest in keeping the shop as it would be in the way of his plans to redevelop the resort.  This creates a tension between them and when it becomes clear that he is her boss, Jade finds the whole situation more and more difficult. Liam's plans for change have their roots in his childhood and the way he was treated as a boy by certain locals. If you want a fun and entertaining read, look no further.

In short: great summery read
