Blitz Spirit at Harbour House by Fenella J Miller #Review

I am delighted to be on the tour to celebrate the next in the Harbour House series by Fenella J Miller . Blitz Spirit at Harbour House   continues life in 1940,with the Second World War underway. It was published by Boldwood Books on October 7th.   September 1940 As the new housekeeper at Harbour House, Lily Turner and her teenage daughter Daphne have forged a resilient life since Lily’s husband Patrick abandoned them. But as war rages, Patrick, now vital to the war effort, is dispatched to Wivenhoe shipyard, forcing him to confront his past—and Lily—once more. He's no longer the reckless boy who deserted his family; hardened by the years, he’s determined to make amends. Yet, for Lily, the scars of abandonment run deep, and forgiveness is a luxury she's not sure she can afford. But she finds this new version of Patrick intriguing nonetheless.. With the Blitz intensifying and German bombers pounding Britain, life is precarious. When Patrick, Lily, and Daphne are...

You Can't Hurry Love, a fun romcom by Susan Buchanan was published on April 27th.

A 30th birthday celebration. A sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica. A split-second decision.

When Kat MacDonald takes the trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica, she doesn’t count on ditching her dead-end job, sending her uber-controlling boyfriend packing and volunteering at a sloth sanctuary.
But when she finally meets the swoon-worthy assistant manager Dexter, the chemistry between them is unmistakable and sparks fly. Despite a rival for his affections, and her ex’s inability to know when to give up, she and Dexter are drawn to each other like magnets.
Just as she’s settling into life at the sanctuary and making friends, a letter arrives from back home in Scotland. A letter which could both upset her new plans and give her everything she has ever wanted. Everything except Dexter.
Kat is torn: should she stay in the tropical rainforest paradise with her beloved sloths, new friends and the delectable Dexter or pursue her lifelong dream? Or can she find a way to have it all?

A fun, escapist read full of romance, beautiful scenery and humour, perfect for fans of Emily Henry, Beth O’Leary Leonie Mack and Julie Caplin.

 My Thoughts

This is definitely one for when you feel like an escapist read and a summer adventure. Kat is on a trip of a lifetime to Costa Rica. She is fulfilling a childhood dream and is very emotional about the trip as it was one she knew her father would have loved to go on. Unfortunately he has died but she is determined to carry out this dream. Accompanying her is her rather boring boyfriend who is there under sufferance and wastes no time in giving up on the trip. Kat shows all her determination in carrying on with her holiday. Frustrated by her dead- end job, she jumps at the chance to volunteer at a local sloth rescue centre.

This is a story about second chances, taking and risk and following your dreams. There is plenty of romance in the air waiting for her at the rescue centre and also some new friends who treat her like family and welcome her in. Of course, not everyone is totally welcoming and Kat does come up against some suspicion and ill feeling. How she deals with it shows you a lot about her  character. With a fantastic setting and lots of amusing sloths to care for this is a hugely entertaining read.

In short: Take a leap of faith
