Welcme back to the beautiful Scottish Highlands for Margaret Amatt's  sixteenth in her Glenbriar  Series:Christmas Wishes at the Station Bookshop. This latest novel was published on 14th November by Leannan Press.   After one toxic relationship too many and more failed jobs than she can count, spirited Scarlett Finch has lost her sparkle and doesn’t think she can face this year’s festive season. The last thing she expects is to land a Christmas job at Glenbriar’s Little Station Bookshop, especially not thanks to a slightly unhinged older woman with a parrot, a pug, a wild imagination, and some crackpot ideas for displays – not to mention a flair for making unexpected decisions, like hiring Scarlett without telling the owner. The Christmas Market by Linda McEvoy #Review

Today we have a debut fiction author, Linda McEvoy whose novel The Christmas Market was publlished by Bedford Square Publishers on 26th September.

Jas saw the light when her ex dumped her treasured vintage fabric all over the street. She’s back in her home town with a plan to launch her hat-making business at the Christmas market in the beautiful Georgian square.

But the Ballyclane she returns to is not the one she left nine years ago. Her mother has a new man and Jas’s old room is a walk-in wardrobe now. Her beloved gran has died and the house Jas hoped to work from is a bonanza for property developers instead.

And no one is organising the Christmas market! There’s just enough time to manage that and keep her business plan on track. She certainly doesn’t have time for Niall, the smoky-eyed, posh boy builder, hell-bent on breaking her heart.

With a best friend hiding a secret, a childhood nemesis determined to take her down, and a beautiful French angel enchanting everybody, Jas struggles to get a grip on what’s real.

Still, she might find everything she needs at the market this Christmas if she can let herself truly believe…

 My Thoughts

This is a really charmimg, festive read. Jas has returned home following a bad break-up and is trying to reconnect with her friends, family and wider community. She has great plans for her own business but also gets pulled into organizing the annual Christmas Market. From there, you know that all festive touches will be on view and so they are.

Jas soon realises that life has moved on for everyone since she left nine years ago and slotting straight back into her old life is not as straightforward as she hoped. Her beloved grandmother has died and Jas realises what an influence she was on her life and how many traits she has inherited from her. Romance is brewing from the start but Jas struggles to see all of Niall's qualities, too busy making presumptions about his lifestyle. The community adds humour and warmth to the story which brings together a real feeling of home and being included.
