Love Home on the Road Home by Margaret Amatt #Review #GlenbriarBook15

We are returning to the beautiful Scottish Highlands for Margaret Amatt's  fifteenth in her Glenbriar  Series:Love Match on the Road Home. This latest novel was published on 3rd October by Leannan Press   After tennis star Georgie Porter retires at just thirty-one, she buys a campervan and returns to her hometown of Glenbriar, hoping to make amends for the hurts she caused to a former sweetheart. But instead of finding the man whose heart she broke many years ago, she comes face to face with his younger brother, Kerr. Easy-going and quietly loyal, high school teacher Kerr Halley has strong opinions about Georgie Porter – and there are rules about interacting with your brother’s ex, no matter how long ago she split with him. Especially when Kerr has always secretly carried a torch for her. When they’re thrown together to fundraise for a local sports project, old grudges begin to thaw, and Kerr’s true feelings come to light. As Georgie rediscovers the charm of small...

The Lake House by Christie Barlow #Review

I am delighted to be on the tour to celebrate the latest in Christie Barlow's  Love Heart Lane series, The Lake House. It can be read as a standalone. You can read my review of more in the series here: Love Heart Lane, Foxglove Farm, Clover Cottage

There’s a newcomer to the village of Heartcross and she’s never been more in need of a friend.  Ella is ready to start afresh ––and that could mean there’s love on the horizon in the form of the gorgeous Roman, the local water taxi driver. Every day Roman is there to ferry Ella to the restaurant on the other side of the lake and every night he makes sure she gets home safe. But Roman has secrets of his own…

Can the Love Heart Lane community offer Ella a chance of a new life? Or will the ghosts of her past catch up with her?

 My Thoughts

Another visit to Love Heart Lane series and it was just as heartwarming as ever. This time, we get to follow Ella and Roman but also see how life is treating some familiar faces. It feels like such escapist reading, much needed at the moment and the setting is as stunning as ever. There are some surprising twists along the way and the story certainly does not seem stale. The village format is still yielding up refreshing stories.

I found Dolores to be a real character and she added a slice of humour to the story. Friendships, old and new, are shown to be integral to the story and a major reason why Hearrtcross is such a special place to live. Starting again is made to seem easy, although Ella has had a terrible time in the past. She has retained an optimistic attitude and is not jaundiced with refret and anger. This is a great choice for anyone looking for a series which grows to includes new characters but which retains the spark of its first series.

In short: A touch of glamour at the Lake House.
