Love Home on the Road Home by Margaret Amatt #Review #GlenbriarBook15

We are returning to the beautiful Scottish Highlands for Margaret Amatt's  fifteenth in her Glenbriar  Series:Love Match on the Road Home. This latest novel was published on 3rd October by Leannan Press   After tennis star Georgie Porter retires at just thirty-one, she buys a campervan and returns to her hometown of Glenbriar, hoping to make amends for the hurts she caused to a former sweetheart. But instead of finding the man whose heart she broke many years ago, she comes face to face with his younger brother, Kerr. Easy-going and quietly loyal, high school teacher Kerr Halley has strong opinions about Georgie Porter – and there are rules about interacting with your brother’s ex, no matter how long ago she split with him. Especially when Kerr has always secretly carried a torch for her. One Day in Summer by Shari Low #Review

One Day in Summer by Shari Low was published by Boldwood Books on 11th June and I am delighted to be on its blog tour.

#1 bestseller Shari Low, an emotional roller-coaster, that keeps you guessing...

One day in summer, three lives are about to change forever.

After two decades of looking after others, this is the day that Agnetha McMaster is reclaiming her life. It's her turn, her time but will she have the courage to start again?

Ten years ago, Mitchell McMaster divorced Agnetha and married her best friend, Celeste. Now he suspects his second wife is having an affair. This is the day he’ll discover if karma has come back to bite him.

Thanks to a DNA test, this is the day that Hope McTeer will finally meet her biological father. But will the reunion bring Hope the answers that she’s looking for?

Three people. Twenty-four hours. A lifetime of secrets to unravel.

My Thoughts
You can tell from the start that Shari Low is a great storyteller.  As the book progresses, you are able to follow the different story threads due to the superb plotting. Taking place over one Summers' day, the story alternates between the present day and decades earlier and you are given the true story in dribs and drabs. This is a story about family secrets.

I must admit, not all the characters are likeable and it is no surprise to find out that Celeste is not my favourite person. Nevertheless, the author brings out her vulnerable side. so that you almost have some sympathy for her- well almost... Family affection runs through the story and I loved Agnetha's twin girls' relationship. Agnetha's character is the most interesting as she faces her 45th birthday and resolves to make some time for herself. This is a great escapist read with plenty of well-drawn characters and skilful plotting.

In short: Great storytelling and some emotional moments.
