Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses by Rachel Brimble #Review #HomeFrontNurses

It is now 1943 and we follow the lives of the Home Front Nurses as they cope with the effects of the Second World War. Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses by Rachel Brimble is published on February 13th by Boldwood Books .     ‘Come on, Kathy… tell me a secret.’ 1943: Becoming a Home Front nurse, meant Kathy Scott was finally able to escape the violence of her childhood. At long last, her life has taken a turn for the better. Particularly because, for the very first time, she’s made some wonderful friends–fellow nurses Sylvia, Freda and Veronica. Kathy’s known for not being short of a word or two. So nobody’s more surprised than her when she finds herself tongue-tied around Freda’s handsome brother, James – who’s home from war with an unexplained injury.   My Thoughts   The story of the Home Front Nurses continues into 1943 and Freda's ambition to nurse abroad gets ever closer. Thirty by Christina Bradley #Review

I am absolutely delighted to be taking part in the celebrations for Christina Bradley's debut novel, Thirty, which is available as an eBook or in paperback.

Thirty days till she turns thirty... Just thirty dates to find The One...

Bella Edwards is a hot mess.

Days away from turning thirty, single, struggling to reconcile where she is with where she imagined she'd be by this point in her life, Bella has come to believe her entire future happiness is based on meeting 'The One'.

After an unfortunate encounter with a fortune teller, where it seems Bella's single fate is sealed, she hops on a plane from London to New York to seek the wisdom of her best friend who, in turn, presents Bella with a challenge: thirty dates in thirty days before Bella turns thirty.

Challenge accepted, Bella embarks on a crazy road trip across America to San Francisco, with one clear objective: to find 'The One' and prove the fortune teller wrong. What ensues is a raucous adventure of dating, love, and - most importantly - self-discovery.

Fresh, funny and witty, Thirty shines an honest, often awkward, often hilarious, but ultimately wonderfully fresh light on what it truly means to be single, when everyone else seemingly has it all.

My Thoughts

Well this is one of those reads which I delighted in. Full of humour and wit, the characters popped out of the pages. It is a complete delight. If you decide to read it, be prepared for the fact that you won't want to put it down. You'll be stuck there right to the end! With a fast pace and a great format, it stands out as one not to be missed.

You find yourself totally buying into Bella's challenge to go on 30 dates in 30 dates in an attempt to track down 'The One' before she reaches 30. Not all the dates go according to plan and some have a few surprises but along the way, Bella realises a few things about what she wants from life- and what she doesn't. You don't have to be Bella's age to enjoy the message behind this story. Being single, when everyone around you seems to be off on their own way, applies to people of all ages. If you want a genuinely laugh out loud read, pick this up.

In short: great holiday reading

About the Author

Christina Bradley started her career as an actress, living and working in British Columbia, Canada. This was when her love for storytelling first began. It wasn’t until she moved back to London some years later, that her love affair with writing, finally took hold. Single at that time and fairly new to her thirties, she began reflecting on what this ‘coming of age’ meant, and the process of reconciling where you are, with where you'd always imagined you'd be. Christina observed this wasn’t something she was experiencing alone, it was a much larger conversation (and basically an epidemic) amongst most of her single friends – everyone seemed to be in a blind-panic about turning thirty, and still searching for The One.

Thirty was written in response.

Alongside her writing, Christina is the founder of the Communication Campus, helping individuals, brands and businesses communicate their message and their stories in front of live audiences. Christina, lives by the sea and is currently writing her next novel.
