Love Home on the Road Home by Margaret Amatt #Review #GlenbriarBook15

We are returning to the beautiful Scottish Highlands for Margaret Amatt's  fifteenth in her Glenbriar  Series:Love Match on the Road Home. This latest novel was published on 3rd October by Leannan Press   After tennis star Georgie Porter retires at just thirty-one, she buys a campervan and returns to her hometown of Glenbriar, hoping to make amends for the hurts she caused to a former sweetheart. But instead of finding the man whose heart she broke many years ago, she comes face to face with his younger brother, Kerr. Easy-going and quietly loyal, high school teacher Kerr Halley has strong opinions about Georgie Porter – and there are rules about interacting with your brother’s ex, no matter how long ago she split with him. Especially when Kerr has always secretly carried a torch for her. When they’re thrown together to fundraise for a local sports project, old grudges begin to thaw, and Kerr’s true feelings come to light. As Georgie rediscovers the charm of small...

Make it up to you by Lucy Keeling #Review

I am happy to be featuring Lucy Keeling's romcom, Make it up to you, which was the runner-up in the Search for a Star competition, run by the publishers, Choc-Lit.

What do mascara wands and gardening shears have in common?

Absolutely nothing! At least that’s what wannabe beauty influencer Sophie Timney thinks when her friend Polly suggests involving her brother Marcus in Sophie’s make-up tutorials. She needs more views, Marcus needs promotion for his gardening business – in Polly’s mind joining forces will help them both. Sophie isn’t so sure.

Because Marcus Bowman has a habit of getting under her skin in a way that no exfoliating face scrub ever could. But, as the views and comments on her videos begin creeping up, it becomes increasingly obvious that Sophie’s subscribers like Marcus, and what’s even worse is that Sophie might be starting to feel the same way …

My Thoughts

This contemporary romance is a great mix of humour and romance and features a likeable group of friends who could easily feature in a series. You feel that you get to know them in this novel but there are also plenty of hints that some of them may have their own stories to tell. Just where does Mia work and is there another romance bubbling below the surface?

Sophie and Marcus are the focus of this debut novel which has a contemporary feel with plenty of emphasis on social media. Sophie is so driven by her work and it is interesting to see how different characters regard her job as a social media influencer. Some see it as a hobby. Others can recognise that she puts a huge effort into it and it is obvious that she is a capable and focussed person.

If you enjoy a feelgood read with convincing characterisation and some witty dialogue, you will enjoy this book.

In short: An engaging romcom with a contemporary feel.
