Christmas at the Snow Covered Inn by Lucy Coleman #Review

Pull up a cosy armchair for this feelgood, festive story. Christmas at the Snow Covered Inn by Lucy Coleman was published by Embla Books on 12th October.

Ria's Christmas wish list: A secluded inn, beautiful decorations, lots of snow and a man who could change her life forever...

After a messy breakup, interior designer
Ria Porter has been dedicated to her job. Now one of the best in the business, she's been hired to work on a beautiful inn nestled in the snow-covered mountains of New Hampshire. A career-making opportunity she couldn't refuse, Ria's determined to make it her finest work yet.

Successful businessman
Hayden Reynolds has carved his own path in life. But this December he is flying back home on a mission to save his grandfather's beloved inn.

Between interfering family members and a tight deadline, Ria's got her hands full. The last thing she needs is Hayden distracting her with his good looks and kind heart. But as they work together to bring the inn back to life, Ria finds her resolve thawing and it harder to keep things professional.

With Christmas Eve approaching, Ria has a decision to make. She can keep her focus on her work or she can allow herself to dream, letting this beautiful place open up a future she never thought possible...

Pour yourself a mug of hot chocolate and settle down in front of the fire for this charming, cosy Christmas romance. Fans of Sarah Morgan, Karen Swan and Jenny Hale will be hooked from the very first page.

My Thoughts

The snow glistens throughout this festive read but the story is about far more than getting the Inn ready for Christmas and a relaunch. There are unresolved family issues from the past which complicates everything and look as though everyone’s future plans are in doubt. Ria and Hayden are too self-contained characters, driven by their careers but with strong family ties. They also have heartbreak in their romantic pasts so romance is the last thing they are looking for.

I enjoyed meeting all the secondary characters in the story, especially Frank and Nancy and seeing how Ria’s skills in mediation helped get some common ground. All the Christmas touches add to the atmosphere with all the delicious food enhancing the sense of well-being and family ties. You get to hear both Ria and Hayden’s thoughts at different times which moved the story on. In short, this is a lovely read for these Winter months, full of friends, family and romance.
