Teacakes and Tamgos by Rosie Green #Review #LittleDuckPondCafeBook41

Welcome to Book 41 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Teacakes and Tangos  is the latest novella by Rosie Green.   Clara’s dance school is finally open, much to the excitement of the residents of Sunnybrook. The stress-busting, lights-off ‘Dancing in the Dark’ sessions are a big hit with the Little Duck Pond Café girls. But when the school is threatened with closure, will Clara’s dream be over before it’s even begun? Love is in the air for new recruit Anika, but could her dreams of romance be about to turn sour, too? My Thoughts In this latest visit to Sunnybrook, we take up Clara's story again as she prepares to open her long wished for Dance School. However, she begins to wonder whether her trusting nature has been abused as suspicion falls on her sisteras to her motives and doubts are raised in her engagement. You are willing her to sort out her personal life and take a stand  in a wish for the truth.     The latest off shoot of the Little Duck P...

Never Ever Getting Back Together by Phoebe MacLeod #Review

I am delighted to be taking part in the celebrations for Bever Ever Getting Back Together by Phoebe MacLeod. It was published on October 26th by Boldwood Books.

The course of true love never did run smooth, but with Phoebe MacLeod it always gets a chance. Perfect for fans of Jo Watson and Mhairi McFarlane.

Everyone remembers their first love. Jess Thomas definitely does. So, it’s more than a little awkward when Jess’s first love, Jamie Ferguson, turns out to be the best man at the wedding she’s catering for. And more than a little insulting when he doesn’t appear to remember her at all.

Since Jamie broke her heart (via text!), 10 years earlier, Jess has sworn off romance. And with a booming catering business to focus on, she’s doing OK. She has no interest in revisiting the past.

But when Jess’s car breaks down on a country lane, she has no choice but to accept Jamie’s help. Now, Jamie is determined to show Jess he’s a new man. But can guys like Jamie ever really change? And if she gives him another chance, is she setting herself up for a fall?

 My Thoughts

Jess's early friendship with Janie has influenced her all her life, especially how things were left between them. You can see that she has thrown herself into building up her business and as a business woman, she is very competent and astute. It is her business which brings her back into contact with Jamie. They both have matured a great deal. At times, this is a laugh out loud romcom, with some genuinely funny moments, especially when Jess is trying to fool Jamie.

Jess's family and friends provide some humour and they ground her, offering some common sense views. There is romance at the centre of the story, although it seems there is more to Jamie's back story than you first guess. As Jess has to learn to trust, you are drawn into her feelgood story and willing her to take a risk.

In short: Secomd chance romance
