One Last Summer st Seabreeze Farm by Jo Bartlett #Review

Today I am featuring the third in Jo Bartlett's novels set at Seabreeze Farm. One Last Summer at Seabreeze Farm was published on April 13th by Boldwood Books..

This book was previously published as One Last Summer at Channel View Farm

A summer to remember...

Georgia Banks knows sheā€™s living on borrowed time. So, when doctors tell her sheā€™s got one last summer to make all her dreams come true, sheā€™s determined to make every day count.

The one thing thatā€™s never in doubt, is that she wants her best friend, Gabe, to be with her every step of the way. And so, Georgia draws up her not-a-bucket list with all the things sheā€™s determined to tick off before she goes ā€“ number one of which is to spend one last summer by the sea.

Seabreeze Farm perched high on the cliffs above the English Channel is the perfect spot, and surrounded by the antics of its menagerie of rescued animals and the warmth of the friendship sheā€™s offered there, Georgia starts to believe she can live out all her dreams before itā€™s too late.

And just when she thinks thereā€™s nothing left to wish for, Georgia gets another chance at life. But taking it might mean losing the one person she cares about the most.

As she faces her biggest challenge yet, Georgia wonders if her last summer at Seabreeze Farm will mean the end of her biggest dream of all.

My Thoughts

Georgia is a complicated character and when we first meet her, it is clear that she is facing some life changing circumstances. What is clear is her independent spirit and determination not to be the centre of attention. She also has a kind heart and is keen to help others who she regards as more worthy of help than she is.

Family and friendships are central to the story. Seabreeze Farm is a warm and supportive environment and the perfect place for Georgia to spend this special Summer in. As Georgia looks to the future she has some difficult decisions to make. She tries to ensure that her mother and Gabe are able to move on and start over if necessary. However, her perception of what they want may not be the true situation and she has to realise that she cannot direct their future. This is ultimately a hopeful story which celebrates love and friendships. I am pleased to see that there are more planned in the series.

In short: family, friendship, moving on
