Today I have a wonderful novel for you by one of Ireland's bestselling authors, Carmel Harrington. The Moon over Kilmore Quay was published by Harper Collins on 27th May 2021.

 My Thoughts

This is one of those reads which wraps its arms around you and takes you on a journey through a family history. Following the story of Lucy who emigrated to New York from Ireland and Bea, a descendant, who has been raised in America, you see the lives of a close-knit community who put down roots and had the courage to settle in a foreign country. Lucy's story takes place mainly in the 1990's whilst Bea is living in the USA of 2020. You follow their stories through alternating chapters and feel the warmth of the family ties both feel.

    Friendship and sisterhood figure highly in the lives of both girls. There are some surprises in store as the stories unfold and one or two red herrings to keep you on your toes. Although a warm and uplifting tale, there are also some heartbreaking moments. Sticking with people and forgiving the past are emerging themes, as are loss, grief and betrayal. Highly recommended.

In short: Family, friendship and ties across the sea.
