Christmas in Little Penhaven by Angela Britnell #Review

I am delighted to review Angela Britnell's Christmas in Little Penhaven today. I thoroughly enjoyed One Summer in Little Penhaven and you can read my review here.

Have yourself a little Cornish Christmas …

Wannabe author Jane Solomon is expecting an uneventful Christmas in her Cornish village of Little Penhaven.

But then super fit American gym owner Hal Muir comes to town, and suddenly the holiday season looks set to be far more interesting. Hal is keen on embracing every British tradition on offer, from mince pies to Christmas pub quizzes – and perhaps some festive romance too …

My Thoughts

This is a Christmas story to wallow in on a wintry weekend. I enjoyed revisiting Little Penhaven and meeting some familiar characters. The central story of Jane and Hal was sweet, as the American met a Brit and their two cultures came together. Hal emerged as a thoughtful and kind central figure, proving there was more to him than his good looks. Jane had lots of layers. Hiding her full potential, she has put her own hopes to the side to support her mother and younger brother. Writing away at her own crime novel, she has shown perseverance and a single mindedness to get it done.
Little Penhaven emerges as a great little community to visit and Jane's small group of friends are caring and look out for her. There are quite a few sub-plots to keep you interested. Jane's brother has a lot of growing up to do and her mother also goes on her own personal journey. Jane's errant father is a mystery to be solved and on top of it all, there is a new baby to welcome and families to be reconciled. It is a heartwarming romance with some delightful characters and a sprinkling of Christmas cheer.

In short: Moving on and finding a place to belong.
