Reflected Destinies by Florence Keeling ** Blog Tour Interview, Review & Giveaway **

I am delighted to be taking part in the blog tour to celebrate Florence Keeling's time-travel novel, Reflected Destinies. In addition to an interview with Florence, I also have a great Giveaway for you to enter- details on how to enter are at the foot of this post.

Laura is happy and content, she has a new boyfriend and loves her job teaching primary school pupils in London.  But when she inherits a rundown house from a stranger on her 30th birthday, memories of her prom night come flooding back, memories of a scary encounter and an antique mirror in the very same house.

Laura visits the house with all its secrets and as she unravels the clues she reveals the biggest secret of all: her own destiny.  But how can you change the future if it’s already written in the past?

Welcome Florence, to Books, Lifre and Everything.

Would you like to start by telling us a little about yourself and how you started as a writer?

I have been married now for 19 years with 2 teenage children and 2 dogs.  I grew up in Coventry and loved to visit the cathedral which features in Reflected Destinies.  I have always written short stories and poetry but it wasn’t until a few years ago when my children were older that I started to have the time to write nov

Florence Keeling is a pseudonym. How did you come to choose that name?

Florence Keeling is my great grandmother on my father’s side.  I chose this name because I was born on the same day as her – April Fools Day.

Reflected Destinies is your first published novel. What was the inspiration for the book?

Just a short walk from where I live is an old farmhouse.  The idea for Reflected Destinies came to me whilst walking my dogs.  Many years ago I had had an idea of a mirror portal and a world war two soldier but in early 2016 this transpired into Laura and Ben’s story.

Without spoiling the plot, could you let us know a little about the story?

Laura inherits an abandoned house on her 30th birthday from a stranger but the house is already known to her from her childhood.  It was here on her prom night that she encountered an old man who knew her name.

Laura wants to sell the property but her boyfriend encourages her

to at least visit and eventually she falls in love with the house and its strange visitors.

If you could choose to be a character from Reflected Destinies , who would you be and why?

Agnes is a fun character, she says what she wants when she wants to and does what she wants when she wants to.  She knows everything about everyone.

What are your writing routines and where do you do most of your writing?

My writing routine is most mornings before everyone else is awake and I usually write on my laptop in my front room.

What can we expect next from you?

My second novel Winters’ Gift is due out later this year.  It follows the story of Bea Winters and her dream of being a published author, but odd things keep happening to her and she keeps meeting a strange man called Charlie.

I also have a children’s series published under the name of Lily Mae Walters entitled Josie James and The Teardrops of Summer

Thanks for introducing us to Reflected Destinies and your writing.

My Thoughts
This romance with a time travel dimension keeps the reader guessing as to what exactly is happening until you are well into the story. At the beginning, you share Lauren's confusion as to what is going on. I did feel that the house which Laura inherits becomes a character in itself. Standing silent, it stands watching over the decades and sees all the characters as they come and go. I would have liked to find out more about life in the 1940's and really enjoyed the descriptive passages about life then.

One interesting aspect is the reaction of Ben to 21st century living. It is always interesting to see modern life through a different perspective. I did feel that a lot of the story remains untold and that there is great scope for a sequel. Chester the cat does tend to steal the scenes he is in!

In short: An intriguing romance with a time shifting aspect.
