The Little Cottage by the Cornish Sea by Nancy Barone #Review

It's back to Cornwall for a great summer read. Nancy Barone's The Little Cottage by the Cornish Sea was published by Aria on July 3rd. Life doesn't always go to plan . . . After a messy breakup and a nightmare boss, Kate swaps the chaos of London for the calm of Starry Cove—the charming seaside village she loved as a child. She arrives hoping for peace and a fresh start. But life has other plans: Kate soon discovers she's going to be a mother. As she navigates small-town life (and morning sickness), Kate finds friendship in the 'coastal girls'—a warm, welcoming group who help her land a job with Piers, the reclusive owner of the local manor. He's guarded, grumpy and impossible to read... but there's more to him than meets the eye. As feelings grow and secrets slowly come to light, Kate must decide if s he's ready to open her heart again—and whether Starry Cove could be the home she's been searching for all along .   My Thoughts   After...

Entrapped by Claire Ayres ** Blog Tour Review & Giveaway**

I'm delighted to welcome Claire Ayres' Entrapped to Books, Life and Everything today on the opening day of her blog tour. Entrapped will be published on 17th August. You have the chance to win a signed copy of her book in a great Giveaway- details on how to enter are at the foot of this post.

Cellist, Luka, has moved to Bristol to start a new job and recover from the betrayal of finding his best friend and his girlfriend in bed together. He doesn’t plan on the emotional thunderstorm that meeting his next-door neighbour Jess causes.

Jess had everything, a man she loved, friends she adored and then the world crashed around her. Depression came from nowhere and slowly started ripping her life away. Now she lives a lonely, sad life but the music which she keeps hearing next door is waking her up and she doesn’t know why.

Join Luka and Jess as they discover life after heartache, how to forgive and how to live and love again.

*Entrapped is an 18+ Contemporary Romance with several graphic sex scenes*

My Thoughts

Entrapped turned out to be a little bit different to the usual Romance books that blogging has introduced me to. At times, it is very intense as the cover hints at and will appeal to those who like their romance to have a contemporary, sexy edge. That aside, I thought the plot had a certain cleverness about it as you come to see that both Luka and Jess are trapped in their own particular ways. Luka is almost paralysed by his friend's betrayal as is Jess. In her case, it is even more complicated due to her depression which isn't always understood, although she does have amazing support from her 'foster sister' and her boyfriend.

You have a strong sense of how isolated and excluded Jess feels through her depression, especially when she has to go out in the world, to work. She has shut herself off, emotionally and within her solitary life.  You also get a feeling that her attraction for Luka is so overpowering that it too threatens to take her over. How both these people work out their problems, if they do, is an enjoyable read. There is also some great music to savour and an author playlist to finish it off.

In short: Contemporary romance with an adult edge.

  1. I thoroughly enjoyed Claire's novel, and it's not a genre I normally read. Really great review!

  2. I love the cover. I do not read a lot of books involving graphic sex scenes, but this one does sound quite intriguing.
