I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. Have I Told You Lately by Beth Moran #Review

Happy Publication Day to Beth Moran for her latest novel, Have I Told You Lately. It is published today by Boldwood Books.

One photo and a handful of letters can change everything.

Emmie Brown has always known she was adopted. Nellie Brown sacrificed everything to make their life together comfortable and, while not the most demonstrative or warm woman, Emmie never doubted her devotion. But, when Emmie finds a stash of letters and a hidden photo after her mother’s death, everything she has believed changes in an instant. And she won’t be able to rest until she finds the mysterious ‘G’ who sent the letters.

Emmie’s quest takes her to the breathtakingly beautiful Isle of Siskin and into the home of the gregarious, fiercely loyal Hawkins family. After an isolated and introverted life, the burst of colour and noise is overwhelming. But soon Emmie feels her heart begin to open, her mind begin to dream. And as her friendship with kind and gorgeous islander Pip Hawkins gets closer, endless possible futures draw into focus.

But the discovery of ‘G’s true identity will mean Emmie has to choose. One of her choices would mean revealing secrets hidden for decades, one could lead to happiness, but both will need Emmie to be braver than she’s ever been…

A truly uplifting, unputdownable, heart-warming and unforgettable read guaranteed to make you smile, read longer than you planned and punch the air with happiness at its beautiful ending. Perfect for all fans of Shari Low, Jill Mansell and Lucy Diamond.

 My Thoughts

Life on Siskin Island can't be more different than the daily grind that Emmie has been enduring . Trapped by her feelings of responsibility to carry on just as her Mother would have wanted her to, she has run the airport kiosk just as it has always been. Working away in an airless room, she has slowly begun to realise that she is isolated and lonely. She longs for fresh air and open fields. Acting on am impulse, she finds herself on a break on Siskin and realises that the freedom, family and friends are all she has been missing.

The community is close knit and to s stranger's eyes, intrusive. She senses that in fact there is a lot of caring and generosity at its core. Starved of friendship and romance, Ellie revels in the easy friendships she makes. She can't deny her feelings towards Pip but there are all sorts of family secrets and complications that seem to get in the way. Also, someone seems to be trying to drive her away.  Emmie faces great changes either at home or on Siskin but has to decide if she has the courage to say goodbye to the past.  This is a real escapist story full of heartwarming moments and more that a touch of true romance.
In short: new beginnings beckon
