Best Mistake Ever by Christy McKellen

This is a new to me author but I am delighted to feature on the celebrations for the latest novel by Christy McKellen, Best Mistake Ever. It was published by Boldwood on 16th January.

Some mistakes are worth making

Beatrice Donovan would do anything for her identical twin sister. Including stepping into her hotel management job temporarily and pretending to be her - she’s desperate. What could go wrong? A lot apparently! Because her sister Delilah has hugely understated her role – the hotel is at risk of closure and she’s promised she can turn it around. Now Bea has to find a way to fly under the radar, get the job done before anyone notices their switch up.

Sounds easy, all Bea has to do is avoid her temporary new boss Jonah. However, that’s a lot harder than she thought. Not only does he have impossibly high standards, he’s also out of this world gorgeous, an ex-rockstar with a chip on his shoulder and he's watching her like a hawk! So Bea uses her charm to keep him focussed on the job and not her. But by trying to put up boundaries and keep things professional, Bea finds herself seeing the real man beneath the grumpy façade . Yet with so much at stake, she knows she shouldn’t fall for her sisters boss…but then again, it may just be the best unintentional mistake she’s ever made!

 My Thoughts

Bea and Dee are twin sisters who are very different in personality. They have had a slightly different upbringing and their relationships with their father seems to have affected them both, in different ways. When Bea agrees to swap places with her sister, you see her sense of responsibility towards her and her desire to sort her out.

Once she is has taken her sister's place, Bea realises that there is a huge amount of chemistry between her and her boss. He has his own issues and has been badly hurt in the past. This is a fast paced story which sped by It has some humour and lots of romance as Bea realises that she has made a huge mistake in pretending to be Dee. There are plenty of complications coming her way. With her best friend, business partner and sister out of the country, you sense that Bea is in a bubble at the hotel. She finds herself reassessing a lot in her life and comes to a realisation about where she wants her future to lie. I also enjoyed the alternating viewpoints as you got to know what was in both Bea and her Jonah's minds.

In short an entertaining read full of charisma
