Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm by Georgina Troy #Review #HollyhockFarmBook2

Welcome back to the blog to Georgina Troy for another in her Hollyhock Farm series. Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm was published by Boldwood Books on November 7th and takes us back to beautiful Jersey.

Festival season has come to Hollyhock Farm…

Since his sister Lettie took over their parents' farm on the beautiful island of Jersey at the start of the year, Zac Torel's life has changed completely. Zac loves Hollyhock Farm, and he's determined to help Lettie succeed, but when their insurance company refuses to pay for the restoration of one of their barns in time for winter, the clock is ticking for the Torrels to raise the money themselves.

The siblings decide to host a wellness festival, but with the summer already well underway, they've got their work cut out to get everything ready before the season ends. Lettie recruits the help of Melody, a yoga teacher from Edinburgh. New to the island, Melody is determined to shake things up and make a success of Lettie’s festival.

But Melody has come to Jersey with more baggage than her small backpack implies. And as her friendship with Zac grows, will her past catch up with her?

My Thoughts

Hollyhock Farm is a delightful setting for this story which centres on Zach and visitor to the island, Melody. Melody is hiding the reasons for her travelling from Edinburgh to spend time in Jersey. Her marriage is over but she is reluctant to talk about this. Zach is devoted to his family and determined to help his sister sort out the farm following their father's poor health.  It is hard work on the farm, but all the family are united in their efforts.

Melody and her grandmother who is travelling with her are soon taken in by the family and they become firm friends. Zach too has something in his past which is still affecting him but which is rarely spoken of within the family. When Melody's past catches up with her, you see how strong the bonds have become between her and her new friends. This feels like a sunny escape in the depths of these winter months. I did feel like the ending came quite suddenly but perhaps that was because I was enjoying the story so much.

In short: romance and secrets
