Unbelievably we are at Book 33 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Let me introduce The Sunshine Sisters: Skye by Rosie Green

 
The Sunshine Sisters: Skye. This is BOOK TWO of a TRILOGY in the popular Little Duck Pond Café series:

Skye Sunshine has a theory that workmen, when in your house, should be seen and not heard. But Saul, the annoyingly sexy handyman clearly hasn't received the memo! He's far too cheeky and irritating for her liking.

But when Skye's peace of mind and reputation as an actress is threatened by hacks desperate for a story, can she really afford to turn down Saul's offer – to whisk her away from the limelight to the privacy of his rustic cabin in the woods?

My Thoughts

 Secrets from  the past are the focus of this second instalment in The Little Duck Pond Cafe series. In Skye's story, we learn a lot about the dynamics within the Sunshine Sisters' dysfunctional family but what comes over loud and clear is the affection the family members have for each other. Although the story takes place in the neighbourhood of the Little Duck Pond Cafe, it feels separate to earlier volumes as it centres very much on the three sisters. Although familiar characters are mentioned in passing, they don't play any great part in this story. 

    Skye has returned to her family in an emotional state which she tries her best at first to hide from her sisters and her mother. Skye's life in London as a successful actress seems quite different to what she actually needs at the moment. She seems to be in denial about her attraction to Saul and wants to hide herself away. Saul's life and values seem quite different to the materialistic life Skye has lived during her career.  This is an entertaining read, as ever, which sets up the third in the trilogy which will centre on the youngest sister, Blossom. 

In short:can opposites attract?

About the Author

Rosie’s series of Little Duck Pond Café novellas is centred around life in a country village cafe. Skye’s story is the second in a trilogy called THE SUNSHINE SISTERS. Watch out for Blossom’s dramatic and emotional story, which completes the trilogy and is out in early June 2024!
