I’d never heard of Sark when a random internet search came up with a picture of this charming cove in the English Channel. White sailboats floated on cerulean blue sea surrounded by pretty green hills and pink wildflowers. I lost myself for a couple of hours, reading about this island, their unusual laws, their dark sky full of stars and their complex history. It just took hold on my imagination. Later that same day, I remember posting the picture to my Facebook page with the caption “One day ...

Finding the one is only the beginning...

1954. Zara is fifteen the first time she meets Leon. During a power cut in a small French museum, the two spend one short hour in the dark talking about their love for art, Monet and Paris. Neither knows what the other looks like. Both know their lives will never be the same.

1963. In Paris, Leon no longer believes he will ever find the girl he lost that night. After dreaming about him for years, Zara thinks she has already found him. When they meet at an exhibition, they don't recognise each other – yet the way they feel is so familiar...

Over the course of twenty years, Zara and Leon are destined to fall in love again and again. But will they ever find a way to be together?

'It's about dreams and taking chances. Missed opportunities and mistakes. Loss and sacrifice. But above all, it is about love. The kind of love that survives time, distance... even death. The kind of love I wish for you.'

A magical new love story about star-crossed lovers, perfect for hopeless romantics and fans of One Day and The Notebook.

'An epic, sweeping romance about soulmates and second chances' Holly Miller.

'An absolutely unforgettable love story' Mandy Baggot.

'A deeply moving, richly evocative story of love, loss and the power of hope' Miranda Dickinson.

My Thoughts

Mainly set in the second half of the twentieth century, Someday in Paris is an account of two people who share a connection and poses the question whether soulmates are destined to find each other and recognise their linked lives. There is a magical feel to the story and the sense that there are greater forces at play. Full of misunderstandings, missed meetings, twists and turns, you follow Leon and Zara as they drift in and out of their lives.

Told in flashback, you are certainly swept along by the narrative, willing Leon and Zara to finally meet properly. Of course, they are not the only people involved in this love story. Others are drawn into it. Not everyone wants them to be together. There are jealousies which get in the way amd at other times, just real life keeps them apart.  For escapist reading you can't beat it. It is a story for true romantics.

In short: An emotional read.
