Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses by Rachel Brimble #Review #HomeFrontNurses

It is now 1943 and we follow the lives of the Home Front Nurses as they cope with the effects of the Second World War. Shared Secrets for the Home Front Nurses by Rachel Brimble is published on February 13th by Boldwood Books .     ‘Come on, Kathy… tell me a secret.’ 1943: Becoming a Home Front nurse, meant Kathy Scott was finally able to escape the violence of her childhood. At long last, her life has taken a turn for the better. Particularly because, for the very first time, she’s made some wonderful friends–fellow nurses Sylvia, Freda and Veronica. Kathy’s known for not being short of a word or two. So nobody’s more surprised than her when she finds herself tongue-tied around Freda’s handsome brother, James – who’s home from war with an unexplained injury.   My Thoughts   The story of the Home Front Nurses continues into 1943 and Freda's ambition to nurse abroad gets ever closer. Her brother ,James, returns from the war having had a traumatic experi...

I'm glad I found you this Christmas by CP Ward ** Blog Blitz review & Giveaway**

Here is another lovely festive escape for you today- all the way to Scotland for C P Ward's  I'm glad I found you this Christmas. I am delighted to be featuring it on the first day of its mini blog blitz. There is also a great International Giveaway for you to enter- details are at the foot of this post.

Maggie Coates is frustrated. Her longterm boyfriend, Dirk, recently moved to London to take a job she fears puts him out of her league. Despite the assurances of her best friend Renee, Maggie is convinced Dirk is slowly drifting away. All Maggie wants is to get married and settle down, but maybe Dirk has other ideas.
Convinced by Renee to make one last throw of the dice, Maggie books a romantic holiday for two in the quaint Scottish village of Hollydell. But will Dirk show up?

And if he doesn't, what if there is a perfect man waiting for her among the Christmas magic of Hollydell's snow-laden streets? What if Henry, the humble reindeer farmer with the kind smile, turns out to be the man of Maggie's dreams?

I'm glad I found you this Christmas is a glowing sweet romance which will leave you feeling warm inside and buzzing with Christmas spirit.

My Thoughts

This story felt as though the author had conjured up everything which makes Christmas magical and put it all down into this lovely festive read. The setting is amazing and has that Brigadoon feel about it that makes it so mysterious and remote. There are some great characters to meet in Hollydell and you just want to settle down in one of the cabins with a hot chocolate and a good book!

Friendship, family and finding out what is important in life lies along the way as the story develops. You will find Maggie so sympathetic and will be willing her to see what everyone can. Her best friend, Renee is always looking out for her. You can forgive the slightly daffy idea to book a romantic getaway for a boyfriend who is showing zero interest because when she gets there, it is full of possibilities.

In short: Sparkling snow and actual reindeers- a great festive escape.
