Falling in love at Pennycress Inn by Sarah Hope #Review #ThePennycressInnSeriesBook2

I am thrilled to feature Book 2 in  The Pennycress Inn Series  by Sarah Hope . Falling in love at Pennycress Inn was published by Boldwood Books on June 15th. You can read my review of  Welcome to Pennycress Inn   here .  Is this just a summer romance or could it be more? Nicola grew up at Pennycress Inn, in the beautiful Cotswold village of Meadowfield, and now she’s come full circle by landing a job there. After a difficult few months, she’s happy to be back in the place she loves and calls home. The whole village is looking forward to the annual summer carnival, and Nicola is charged with asking the local farmers to lend their tractors and trailers for the occasion. It’s an easy task – until she meets the new owner of Little Mead Farm, who stubbornly refuses to help. On sabbatical from his City job for the summer, Charlie wants to do up his late uncle’s farm and put it on the market as soon as possible. The place might have been in his family for genera...

The Weekend Spa Break by Anne John-Ligali ** Review & Giveaway**

Welcome to Books, Life and Everything today where Anne John-Ligali's second novella in her On-line Friendship Series is featured: The Weekend Spa Break. There is a great Giveaway as well. The details on how to enter are at the foot of this post.

After finally meeting in person at the publishing party of the season, Constance and Estelle are determined not to let their friendship return to mere virtual champagne bottles and uploaded pictures of food.

It’s been a busy year, and Constance feels it’s time to reward herself with the spa break Estelle gave her for Christmas. Naturally, Constance wouldn’t dream of taking anyone other than Estelle, and this will provide the perfect opportunity to bond with her new chum.

As the excited pair spend some quality time together, they realise it’s not just writing books they have in common, but something that goes much deeper. After a few Jacuzzi sessions, facials, pedicures, and a massage by sexy Senior Therapist, Julio, everything seems to be peachy until an unexpected visitor turns Constance’s weekend of bliss … on its head.

A two-day spa break.

Sparkling water on tap.

And the perfect massage.

But who’s rubbing who up the wrong way?

My Thoughts

Reading this is a little like going on a short break away. It is full of little details which add colour to the story and moves Constance's story on after her meeting with Estelle. You find out that there is more to both of them than meets the eye and in complete contrast to the carefully manicured front they present to the world, via social media. You are treated to the social media updates of their other on- line friends and you can't help but think that everyone is an outsider in some way, presenting the view they want to the world.

Below the storyline, there are woven several threads which add to the interest. You get to glimpse the pressures of motherhood, especially for those with children with additional needs. Just what constitutes a 'friend' in the days of social media and how important is family? Is indulging yourself a virtue or a sin? I am looking forward to Part 3 in the series and finding out what Constance does next.

In short: a contemporary take on romance.
