Well here we are at Book 32 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Let me introduce The Sunshine Sisters: Aurora by Rosie Green

 
This is the first book in an exciting new trilogy (‘The Sunshine Sisters’, part of the Little Duck Pond Café series) about three sisters, who are all – in their different ways – searching for something missing in their lives. They haven't been close since a shocking incident years ago sent them spinning off in different directions. Will the village of Sunnybrook work its magic and finally reunite the family?

 

In this first story, Rori has escaped a desperate situation by fleeing to the village. But can she really leave her past behind, or will it come back to haunt her, as she fears it will? Can she find the peace and happiness she craves in Sunnybrook?

My Thoughts

I am delighted as ever to return to Sunnybrook to meet some familiar faces and a few new ones as well.  This is the first in a trilogy of stories about three sisters. Aurora finds herself in the centre of village life, living above the Little Duck Pond Cafe itself. This gives lots of scope for familiar faces to appear in the cafe and involves Aurora in their lives, seamlessly. There is a mystery at the centre of the story which allows for a few twists and turns.

    I am looking forward to seeing how the trilogy develops. Aurora, known as Rori, gets your attention and you can't help wondering about her life and her slightly unusual family. With some darker themes in her past and a toxic relationship to escape from, you see how she begins to evolve, reconnecting with her art and trying to regain her confidence.

In short: plenty of action and some familiar friends

Rosie’s series of Little Duck Pond Café novellas is centred around life in a country village cafe. ‘A Winter Wonderland’ is out now. Look out for Skye’s story and Blossom’s story, completing ‘The Sunshine Sisters’ trilogy – out in April and June!
