Coming Home to Maple Lodge by Alison Sherlock #Review

I am delighted to feature the first in Alison Sherlock's new series set in the Corswolds. Coming Home to Maple Tree Lodge was published by Boldwood Books on June 20th. A family and hotel in desperate need of help… Maple Tree Lodge has been the home of the Jackson family for over a century. But the hotel has never been a success and, following the sudden loss of his father, architect Ben Jackson soon discovers the hotel is close to financial ruin. Ben has to make some tough decisions if the hotel is to survive and his family are to keep a roof over their heads. With the hotel in urgent need of a renovation, Ben’s sister calls on the talents of her best friend, interior designer Lily Watson. A Winter Wonderland by Rosie Green #Review ##LittleDuckPond Book31

Can you believe we are up to novella no 31 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series? Well here  it is! A Winter Wonderland by Rosie Green was published on November 30th and I am delighted that it is time for another visit!

The fairy lights are sparkling on the Sunnybrook village green tree and festive excitement is in the air – and at least one Little Duck Pond Cafe regular is going to have the best Christmas ever!

 My Thoughts

I always look forward to each visit to the Little Duck Pond Cafe and in this one, we focussed on some familiar characters. Ellie is trying to distract from some family issues she has. We also find out what is next for Jaz who has a young daughter but whose relationship with Harry has moved on and apart. She has some trust issues to sort out and you are left wondering how her friendship with her next door neighbour, Milo will work out, especially after the appearance of his old and troubled friend.

There is such a feeling of community and friendship in these stories and I especially enjoy the ones which are set near Christmas. There is such potential for some lovely festive touches. At number 31, you wonder how long the series will go on and hope for more. I like to spot who might be in the next one, ripe for some of that Sunnybrook magic.

In short: communication skills are needed here
