One Day with You by Shari Low #Review

Today we are featuring another uplifting read by Shari Low. One Day With You was published on January 20th by Boldwood Books.

One day, five lives, but whose hearts will be broken by nightfall?

It started like any other day in the picturesque village of Weirbridge.

Tress Walker waved her perfect husband Max off to work, with no idea that she was about to go into labour with their first child. And completely unaware that when she tried to track Max down, he wouldn’t be where he was supposed to be.

At the same time, Max’s best friend Noah Clark said goodbye to his wife, Anya, blissfully oblivious that he would soon discover the woman he adored had been lying to him for years.

And living alongside the two couples, their recently widowed friend, Nancy Jenkins, is getting ready to meet Eddie, her first true love at a school reunion. Will Nancy have the chance to rekindle an old flame, or will she choose to stay by Tress’s side when she needs her most?

One Day with You - two fateful goodbyes, two unexpected hellos, and 24 hours that change everything.

My Thoughts

This story centres on a group of friends, of varied ages, who live through an unforgettable day during which traumatic and life-changing events occur. Max is shown to have been hiding a huge secret and as the carefully constructed cover story unravels, his wife and close friends realise the depth of his treachery. Throughout the day, different people show their caring sides and you certainly see how selfless they can be.

Tress has a strong sense of where her priorities have to be and really shows courage and determination at different times during the day. This is a story about finding your own tribe and about the strength of friendship. Both Tress and Noah instinctively opt for honesty as the right course of action. Fundamentally, they are decent people and your sympathy is always with them. Seeing characters who show loyalty and who stand by loved ones, means that there is ultimately a hopeful feel to the story. The results of deceit are destructive but love and friendship help to heal broken people.

In short: friendships are strengthen amidst traumatic events.
