A Winter Wish by Rosie Green #LittleDuckPondCafeBook24 #Review


I am delighted that it is time for another visit to the Little Duck Pond Cafe for another novella by Rosie Green. A Winter Wish is number 24 in the series which is amazing! This is the second of  three novellas which tell Clara's story. You can  read my review of the first, Clara's Secret Garden, here.

With her new-found happiness unexpectedly crushed, Clara is struggling to move forward. It's hard – especially with step-sister Lois bouncing around the place with joy and making all sorts of plans for the future. And when the household is shocked by a mysterious break-in and a neighbour makes a shocking accusation, Clara finds herself in an impossible position. It’s a situation that threatens to destroy her blossoming romance almost before it's begun . . .


 My Thoughts

In the second of this trilogy centred around Clara, you continue her story. Her dysfunctional family are still there and it seems to fall to Clara to put their needs first and to keep the show on the road. This reflects her kind nature and the fact that she always puts her family first. You have to feel for her as she has to watch her step-sister, Lois, a rather spoilt madam, pursuing her relationship with Rory. Rory, of course, is Clara's secret crush. 

    As before, the lovely community of Sunnybrook features and with Clara's link with the Little Duck Pond Cafe, you catch up on life anong what feels like some old friends. It will be interesting to see how Clara's life pans out in the next novella and whether she can keep everybody happy and have Rory as well. There are a few hints as to how it might be but of course, you never know... That's the beauty of these stories. There sometimes a few surprises!

Rosie’s series of novellas is centred around life in a country village cafe. ‘Clara’s Secret Garden’, the first in a trilogy telling Clara’s story, was published in August, and ‘A Winter Wish’ is Book 2. Look out for ‘Clara’s Christmas Magic’, the third and final book in the trilogy, out in November 2022.
