Maddy's Christmas Wedding by Rosie Green #LittleDuckPondCafeBook37#review

Here we are at Book 37 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Maddie's Christmas Wedding is the latest novella by Rosie Green.   With the wedding of the year approaching, excitement is running high at the café! But there's just one problem. Maddy is grappling with a secret. Could it derail all of hers and Jack's glorious plans for their big day? Will there actually be a wedding?   My Thoughts In this latest festive story, we are taken out of Sunnybrook, in fact, out of the country and taken for a wintry stay in Lapland. It is Maddy's hen party gathering so some of the Little Duck Pond characters are along too. The story continues on from the earlier Cosy Nights and Snowball Fights . The setting is idyllic and so different to life at home. Everything shimmers and shines in the snow and the temperatures are extreme. Maddy should be having the time of her life but she finds that she has a lot on her mind and a heartbreaking decision to make.     With the men le...

Sweet Love and Country Roads by Camilla Isley #Review

Camilla Isley's latest romcom, Sweet Love and Country Roads was published by Pink Bloom Press on May 31st. I am delighted to feature it on the blog today.

Falling for the wrong cowboy never felt so good . . .

Samantha Baker is a high-flying movie producer living in New York City. She loves her shoes, drinking cosmopolitans, and wouldn’t trade the comforts of city life for anything in the world. But when her job is put on the line, Samantha has no other choice than to move to the middle of nowhere to straighten out the filming of her latest romantic comedy blockbuster.

Her new country home has no Starbucks, no Pilates, and the one pub in town has never heard of appletinis—only serves beer and whiskey neat. On the plus side, the views are scenic. And not just for the aerial shots, as the local eye-candy provides a welcome distraction.

At least until Samantha discovers a native cowboy, Travis Hunt, is the source of all her troubles...

And the battle begins.

Each has something the other wants, but as Samantha and Travis go head to head, they might discover the endgame has changed. When hate turns to heat, all becomes fair in love and war for these two sworn enemies who’ve been playing a game of hearts.

But will a roll in the hay be enough to make Samantha decide there’s no sex in the city and convert to country living?

 My Thoughts

This is an enemies to lovers story with lots of humour and light-hearted moments. Samantha is a real city girl and loves New York through and through. The thought of spending time in the country fills her with dread. She is a totally committed career woman. However, life in the country does not turn out how she expected.  Samantha's strong character makes her very much the centre of attention and sparks certainly fall when she runs up against Travis Hunt.

As you soon discover, there is more to Travis than meets the eye. Filled with some lively characters and an interesting plotline, I found this to be a totally enjoyable read. It is a light but entertaining story and the dialogue between Travis and Samantha will make you smile. Life in the country turns out to be full of incident and Samantha begins to reconsider her priorities. Great fun!

In short: Enemies to friends
