Falling in love at Pennycress Inn by Sarah Hope #Review #ThePennycressInnSeriesBook2

I am thrilled to feature Book 2 in  The Pennycress Inn Series  by Sarah Hope . Falling in love at Pennycress Inn was published by Boldwood Books on June 15th. You can read my review of  Welcome to Pennycress Inn   here .  Is this just a summer romance or could it be more? Nicola grew up at Pennycress Inn, in the beautiful Cotswold village of Meadowfield, and now she’s come full circle by landing a job there. After a difficult few months, she’s happy to be back in the place she loves and calls home. The whole village is looking forward to the annual summer carnival, and Nicola is charged with asking the local farmers to lend their tractors and trailers for the occasion. It’s an easy task – until she meets the new owner of Little Mead Farm, who stubbornly refuses to help. On sabbatical from his City job for the summer, Charlie wants to do up his late uncle’s farm and put it on the market as soon as possible. The place might have been in his family for genera...

Scotsman in the Stacks by Alana Oxford #Review

I am delighted to feature a lively romcom on the blog, today. Scotsman in the Stacks by Alana Oxford was published on June 14th.

Paige wants two things: to land a full time librarian job and find the man of her dreams. On the cusp of thirty, she finds herself suddenly single and working part-time in a Michigan library. A handsome patron with a delicious accent appears at the reference desk, inadvertently sparking an idea that might help her land the promotion she so desperately needs. But that's not the only thing he sparks.

James is in town from Glasgow, Scotland, on a summer artist residency. Luckily, the trip got him away from the pressure he feels to take over his uncle's river tour business. He only wanted to clear his head and make his art in peace, but he wasn't counting on finding an attractive librarian to fill his days.

With only eight weeks before James goes home to Scotland, Paige knows she should protect her heart. After all, she already wasted years with her commitmentphobe ex. But the more she gets to know James, the less she can stick to her plan to just be friends. Is she just wasting her time again, or can they bridge the ocean between them to find a happily ever after of their own?

 My Thoughts

This is an entertaining romcom with plenty of lively characters. Set in Michigan, you first meet Paige who has suddenly become single and is feeling quite bruised by life. Although she is trying to live an independent life, sge has some firm friendships and, as you discover, a kind heart. Enter James who is over on an arts placement and looking to escape from his family problems back in Scotland. There is plenty of chemistry happening as you soon discover.

I loved the setting in Michigan and you do get to see different parts of the countryside thanks to Paige and James' trips out. There is a fresh feel to the story, due to the plotline and also because both the characters are working through a few issues and you get to see how their views on their future develop.  If you are looking for a fun, entertaining romcom, try this one out.

In short: friends to lovers
