The Disgraced Knight's Redemption by Ella Matthews #Review TheKnightsMissionsSeriesBook3

The Disgraced Knight's Redemption, the third in Ella Matthews' series, The Knight's Missions, was published by Harlequin Historicals on October 23rd.    A disgraced warrior… Torn between duty and desire! Sir Tristan must win back his honor. His orders from King Edward are simple: seek out the leader of Pwll Du Castle—the unmarried Lady Catrin—and demand she leaves. As Tristan is renowned for his lethal charm and handsome looks, how can she resist? But when the beautiful Welshwoman comes under siege from her covetous neighbor, Tristan finds himself fighting for her! Yet, is it a losing battle? For securing the castle and fulfilling his knightly duty will mean letting Catrin go…  My Thoughts This medieval romance can easily be read as a standalone. One Summer Sunrise by Shari Low #Review

I am delighted to feature the latest novel by Shari Low, One Summer Sunrise which was published by Boldwood Books on June 3rd.

As the sun rises on a hot summer’s day, four lives are about to be changed forever...

Brand new from the bestselling author of What If?, What Now? and One Day In Summer.

Today, Maisie McTeer decides to track down the ex who jilted her at the altar. Today, she’ll find out that revisiting the past can also rewrite her future.

After losing her husband, Harriet Bassett can no longer bear her lonely life. Today, a familiar face in a crowd will spark a quest to discover if there’s something and someone worth living for.

Scott and Kelly Bassett’s daughter is leaving home. Today, Scott plans to tell Kelly that he’s ending their marriage to pursue his rock and roll dreams.

However, Kelly, has a bombshell of her own. How will Scott react to the news that a new arrival is on the way to fill their empty nest?

Between sunrise and sunset, there’s love, heartbreak, laughter and tears, but who will find happiness at the end of the day?

My Thoughts

This novel takes place over one day and follows the lives of four different people who are all brought together at a fundraising concert for a theatre group. At the outset, some of them seem unconnected but as the story develops, you realise that there are certain links. I enjoyed looking at the different generations and seeing that each person was at an important point in their lives. Carly is about to leave home after graduation, which leaves her parents facing an empty nest. However, there is much more to the picture than that. The most affecting character is Harriet who feels at the beginning that she has nothing left to live for. Lastly, there is Maisie, who has unfinished business with her ex-fiance.

Family is an important part of this book and as you see, can take different forms. There are some warm and witty characters and you can genuinely believe in the ties between them. There are moments of humour to set against some poignant ones. In all, this is a great summer's read, with lively characters and uplifting moments.

In short: Lives collide
