Moonlight over Studland Bay by Della Galton #Review

Today's featured book is a really heartwarming story by Della Galton. Moonlight over Studland Bay was published on 24th November by Boldwood Books.

'Utterly uplifting, pure escapism' Trisha Ashley, bestselling author

Animal loving Samantha Jones is on a mission to ‘live the dream’.

When best friend Abby has a beautiful baby boy Sam’s priorities change and she realises she wants more from her life

Uninspired with her dull day job Sam plans to expand Purbeck Pooches, her seaside pet sitting business into a full-time career and embarks on a mission to find her perfect man.

Sam soon hits trouble. Her boss accuses her of moonlighting. The perfect man is frustratingly elusive and her parents make a shock revelation.

The odds are stacking up against her but Sam finds that sometimes when you reach for the moon, you get a handful of glittering stars thrown in for free.

My Thoughts

This was a welcome return to Studland Bay for me after Della's novel, Sunshine over Bluebell Cliff. You can read my review here.  Samantha is a thoroughly likeable character who gets your sympathy from the start. She has an independent streak, but at her heart, also values her friends and family and her basic kindness shines through. There are some humorous episodes in the story which make the story seem to fly by. The beginning certainly sets the tone and I particularly enjoyed meeting up with the eccentric Mr B, the chef from the Hotel at Bluebell Cliff, once more.

The animals are an endearing part of the story and certainly lead Samantha a merry dance at times. Samantha has to figure out exactly what she wants to do with her life and how she is going to get there. She comes to reconsider some of her views and to come to terms with how some of her previous relationships have worked out. The romance is a slow burning part of the story but charming nevertheless. This is a lovely piece of escapist reading for these winter nights.

In short: An amusing and heart-warming read.
