Maddy's Christmas Wedding by Rosie Green #LittleDuckPondCafeBook37#review

Here we are at Book 37 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Maddie's Christmas Wedding is the latest novella by Rosie Green.   With the wedding of the year approaching, excitement is running high at the café! But there's just one problem. Maddy is grappling with a secret. Could it derail all of hers and Jack's glorious plans for their big day? Will there actually be a wedding?   My Thoughts In this latest festive story, we are taken out of Sunnybrook, in fact, out of the country and taken for a wintry stay in Lapland. It is Maddy's hen party gathering so some of the Little Duck Pond characters are along too. The story continues on from the earlier Cosy Nights and Snowball Fights . The setting is idyllic and so different to life at home. Everything shimmers and shines in the snow and the temperatures are extreme. Maddy should be having the time of her life but she finds that she has a lot on her mind and a heartbreaking decision to make.     With the men le...

The Plus One Pact by Portia Macintosh #Review

Today's romcom is published by Boldwood Books on May 21st. The Plus One Pact by Portia Macintosh is well worth a look. I love being involved in a Publication Day Push for a book!

What if your plus one could be the one...?

Cara has officially run out of men. Her most recent dates have gone from bad to worse, and when her dating app informs her there is no one left in her area to choose from, she is at a dead end.
But with a summer of events ahead of her, she needs to find a solution, fast; someone to keep her company at the never-ending weddings, family gatherings and gender reveal parties that she can’t face going to alone. So when she meets handsome, confident, Millsy on a night out she may be in luck. They could not be more different in personality, but he too has a summer of events ahead and is desperate to get his family off his back about finding a ‘nice girl’. What if they made a pact to help each other out and be a plus one for the summer? Just as friends of course...?

A brand new romantic comedy from bestseller Portia MacIntosh, perfect for fans of Zara Stoneley, Sophie Ranald and Mhairi McFarlane.

My Thoughts

What a heart -warming story this turns out to be!  You kind of know from the start that Millsy is going to be a little different but I really enjoyed going through the different situations which Cara found she had to go through before she realised what was in front of her eyes.  There are some witty moments along the way as Cara recognises what her true feelings are. I especially enjoyed the arch look which was taken on the fashionable types who Cara met.

Family is important in this story and making sure that you appreciate everyone in your family. I enjoyed the older members of the family and Millsy's reactions to them. Dogs seem to be pretty important as well and they seem able to sum up a character pretty quickly. There are plenty of touching moments and some sharp ones where the fashionable types give us plenty to smile about.

In short: Can friendship survive love?

About the Author

Portia MacIntosh has been ‘making stuff up’ for as long as she can remember – or
so she says. Whether it was blaming her siblings for that broken vase when she
was growing up, blagging her way backstage during her rock chick phase or,
most recently, whatever justification she can fabricate to explain away those
lunchtime cocktails, Portia just loves telling tales.

After years working as a music journalist, Portia decided it was time to use her
powers for good and started writing novels instead.
Bestseller Portia writes hilarious romcoms, drawing on her real life experiences to show what it’s really like being a woman today – especially one who doesn’tquite have her life together yet.
