A Nantucket Fling by Kathryn Freeman #Review

Kathyrn Freeman's romcoms are always worth a read so I am delighted to be part of the celebrations for her latest, A Nantucket Fling  which will be published by One More Chapter on June 18th.     Can a no-strings attached holiday fling really just stay casual? Olivia is a fiercely independent woman climbing the ladder of corporate finance. But when her family demands she take time off to go to her niece’s bachelorette and wedding in Nantucket, she reluctantly agrees. On the island, she catches the eye of Connor: a handsome, cocky, playboy type—also ten years her junior. Olivia’s sisters egg her on, encouraging a summer fling, but she’s more interested in catching up on her finance reading. Except…he’s funny and sexy, and doing her ego a world of good. As their attraction steadily grows, Connor gets Olivia to relax her tightly held control and indulge in the fling she won’t admit she needs. A disgraced warrior…

Torn between duty and desire!

Sir Tristan must win back his honor. His orders from King Edward are simple: seek out the leader of Pwll Du Castle—the unmarried Lady Catrin—and demand she leaves. As Tristan is renowned for his lethal charm and handsome looks, how can she resist? But when the beautiful Welshwoman comes under siege from her covetous neighbor, Tristan finds himself fighting for her! Yet, is it a losing battle? For securing the castle and fulfilling his knightly duty will mean letting Catrin go…

 My Thoughts

This medieval romance can easily be read as a standalone. You are taken to medieval Wales where Sir Tristan has been tasked by the King to remove Lady Catrin from her position in charge of Pwll Du Castle. You sense from the start his loyalty to his fellow Knights and how he has been trained to follow the chivalrous code they all live by. When Sir Tristan meets Lady Catrin he realises that this is going to be no easy task. She is determined and courageous and has the loyalty and affection of the inhabitants of the Castle.

Sir Tristan is torn between fulfilling his quest given by the King and helping Lady Catrin to repel ambitious neighbours. You are shown daily life in the Castle and grasp the tense atmosphere they all live in as they struggle to hold on. The place of women seems to be a secondary one to men in the eyes of most but Lady Catrin shows herself to be a decisive and loved leader. This is an emjoyable  journey back to the medieval tomes with both action, and romance.

In short: torn between love and duty
