A Perfect Devon Summer by Debbie Morrison #Review #Brambleton

A Perfect Devon Summer  by Debbie Morrison was published by Prosperina Press  on 25th June 2026   Will this summer change everything for Trish – and for Brambleton?   Trish has spent years turning her beloved café-bookshop, Prosecco & Prose, into the social heart of Brambleton – until London developer Charlie Blackthorn arrives with plans for a sleek boutique hotel next door.   Handsome and confident, Charlie is certain he knows what’s best for Trish and Brambleton. His proposal splits the village, stirring wounds and firing up opinions.   When Brambleton’s anonymous new agony aunt weighs in, Trish is pushed out from the safety of her café counter into a summer of impossible decisions. Charlie may be infuriating, but he sees strengths in her she’s long forgotten, and his kindness unsettles her more than his hotel ever could. As tensions rise, should she defend her little kingdom from change… or dare to imagine something bigger?   Escap...

Meet Me Under the Northern Lights by Mandy Baggot #Review

We are travelling north to Iceland  for Mandy Baggot's latest romance, Meet Me Under the Northern Lights which was published by Boldwood Books on September 4th.

Can one kiss melt a cold, broken heart?

When career-focused Chloe Bellamy is sent to Iceland on a last-minute work trip, it’s her big chance to prove she deserves a seat at the top.

But there’s one problem, she may have embellished her CV a little… saying she speaks Icelandic when she doesn’t! And now, to add to her woes, she’s landed with no place to stay.

Gunnar Eriksson has a habit of saving people. First, when he rescued a young boy from a volcano and offered him a forever home. Then opening his door and welcoming in a spirited yet accident-prone Octogenarian. Now Gunnar has somehow tied himself to Chloe who needs all the help she can get but, for some reason, is reluctant to accept it.

Neither of them are looking for love, but under Iceland’s spell, and with a little extra help from those around them, something begins to shift. Could one kiss beneath the Northern Lights change everything?

This Christmas, escape to Iceland for festive feels, unexpected friendships and maybe even a chance at love.

 My Thoughts

If you are looking for a festive romance this year, this one will press all the buttons. Set in Iceland, it shimmers with the snowy scenes and glitters like the Northern Sky. All the festive touches are there you can virtually taste the hot chocolate. Chloe has been sent unexpectedly to Iceland to research the area for a possible event her firm are hoping to put on. A workaholic, the last thing she is looking for is romance and she is nursing a heartbreak which led to the break-up with her partner which she is still broken hearted about.

Gunnar embodies all you'd expect of a strong Icelandic hero with kindness and sensitivity thrown in! Chloe realises that her vision for her pitch my not align with the environmental sensitivities which the locals live by and considers the impact of any of her ideas.

New and old friendships go side by side as Chloe realises that Gummar's life is complicated. There are some amusing moments, largely provided by Gunnar's elderly friend, Hilda whose sharp eyes sum up situations and whose actions can be unpredictable. You are taken on a journey around Iceland as Chloe sets about looking for suitable sites and activities and all the beauty of Iceland is put centre stage.

In short: festive romance
