A New Life in Amsterdam by Helga Jensen #Review #PublicationDay

Helga Jensen's latest novel,  A New Life in Amsterdam  is published today on October 9th by Hera Books.    Could down-sizing her life mean up-sizing her dreams? Since her daughter grew up and left home, Sandy has found herself filling her house with things - impulse purchases that she just has to have but that quickly lose their sheen. Why would she need an expensive set of copper pans when she has no one to cook for? Realising that her shopping habit is out of control, she asks herself: can she de-clutter, downsize and start a new life? She has always wanted to live on a barge, and she reasons that there is no way she would have room for random purchases on a boat. Taking the bravest decision of her life, Sandy buys and refurbishes a barge in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. Relishing her independence, she is not looking for love, but as the nights draw in and the leaves start to fall from the trees, she finds herself drawn to cafe owner and exper...

Love Forever Lindisfarne by Kimberley Adams #Review

I am delighted to take part in the blog tour for Love Forever Lindisfarne which was published on 22nd June by Shy Bairns Publishing.

You can read my review of Love Lindisfarne here and Love Beyond Lindisfarne here

Take a summer break to stunning Northumberland via the pages of this feel-good romantic comedy by award winning writer Kimberley Adams. Full of love and laughter, it will leave you yearning to visit this iconic location in person!

When a stranger appears in the middle of a very important celebration, no one can foresee the island connections that will later come to light. Kittiwake Penaluna is drawn to the island at a sad time in her life; she’s broken, but it doesn’t take long for the islanders to rally round and take her under their wing.

Ellie and Zen are busier than they’ve ever been, jumping from task to task with little time for themselves. Will they ever find a moment together away from all the drama that constantly follows them around the island?

The forthcoming arrival of nine new mini animals puts even more pressure on the islanders, but Bert is resolute, and it’s all hands to the pump to prepare for their arrival. The Mini-Fest fundraiser gets off to a great start, until a despised face from the past appears and throws everything into chaos.

Full of heart, Love Forever Lindisfarne is a story steeped in love and community. You'll reunite with beloved characters who feel like old friends and meet a few lively newcomers with big personalities! Each page will pull you deeper into island life and leave you with a wide smile and a warm glow!

 My Thoughts

You meet up again with some familiar faces in this third in the series, although you can read it as a standalone. The community on the island emerges strongly and although everyone is close knit and loyal, newcomers are greeted with an open heart and given a chance. Kittiwake finds herself onto the island in some distress after the death of her mother but the islanders recognise her good features and vulnerability and rally around her. She brings out an almost maternal instinct in Ellie who feels protective of her and anxious to give her a fresh start in a healing environment. You also see how others respond to the environment and see opportunities to re-evaluate their lives.

There are also plenty of humorous moments through the animals who are being cared for. They give the story a slightly whimsical air and make sure the islanders are seen to keep their feet on the ground. Ellie and Zen's relationship is on an even keel and maturing as they settle down together. They have some romantic moments which mirror the magic of Lindisfarne itself. In many ways, Lindisfarne dominates the series and make it feel like a real escapist read.

In short: love and laughter
