Maddy's Christmas Wedding by Rosie Green #LittleDuckPondCafeBook37#review

Here we are at Book 37 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Maddie's Christmas Wedding is the latest novella by Rosie Green.   With the wedding of the year approaching, excitement is running high at the café! But there's just one problem. Maddy is grappling with a secret. Could it derail all of hers and Jack's glorious plans for their big day? Will there actually be a wedding?   My Thoughts In this latest festive story, we are taken out of Sunnybrook, in fact, out of the country and taken for a wintry stay in Lapland. It is Maddy's hen party gathering so some of the Little Duck Pond characters are along too. The story continues on from the earlier Cosy Nights and Snowball Fights . The setting is idyllic and so different to life at home. Everything shimmers and shines in the snow and the temperatures are extreme. Maddy should be having the time of her life but she finds that she has a lot on her mind and a heartbreaking decision to make.     With the men le...

The (Anti) Wedding Party by Lucy Knott #Review

I am delighted to feature The (Anti) Wedding Party by Lucy Knott on the blog today. Published by Aria on March 14th, you can pre-order it here.

It's the biggest day of their best friends' lives... and they might just ruin it.

Andi hates weddings. So when her best friend Alex tells her she’s getting married in Italy, and asks her to be her maid of honour, she knows she’s the wrong woman for the job. But Alex won’t take no for an answer, and so begins a week-long trip to a beautiful villa in Italy, full of potential disasters that it’s Andi’s job to avoid. But what if she’s the one causing them?

Enter Owen, fellow wedding-hater, Best Man and also the worst person for the job. Tall, sexy and warm, Andi can’t help but feel the ice around her heart begin to melt when he’s around. But as Andi and Owen grow closer, the disasters begin to multiply, try as they might to keep them at bay. Together, can they put their feelings aside and pull off a successful wedding for those they love most?

              My Thoughts

Andi and Owen both have a hatred of weddings in common. Unfortunately, as Maid of Honour and Best Man, it's up to them to lead the celebrations. This gives plenty of scope for humour as predictably, some things don't go to plan. Andi can't get past her aborted wedding when she was betrayed by her fiancee. However, you see her step up to the plate for her best friend who has supported her so much in the past. Andi has got a lot to work out in her life, especially what she is going to do if her Mum does sell the family fish and chip shop. You follow her story as she gradually gains some confidence, but will she be able to step away completely?

Family and friends are at the centre of the story and you sense that Andi's Mum is ready for a change as well. Owen is a little bit more difficult to work out. He seems a bit of a loner but at the same time, he is also family minded and a loyal friend. Set in beautiful Italy, this is a great Summer read, with likeable characters and lots of sunshine!

In short: Will love win out?

About the Author

Lucy Knott loves nothing more than curling up in a cozy writing spot, with coffee and biscuits on hand, and writing the day away.

She loves love in all its forms and adores writing warm, happy stories full of romance, sibling bonds and best friends who know each other inside and out. You’re also guaranteed to find the most delicious food in her books, with Lucy being a lover of Italian food and anything and everything sweet.

When not writing Lucy enjoys spending time with her partner and her family, cooking her Nanna and Grandad’s Italian dishes (that you can find in her and her twin sister, Kelly’s cookbook, Fame Da Lupo), baking all kinds of cake and cookies, and getting lost in a good book.
