I am very excited to be part of the celebrations to launch Jo Bartlett's latest series. Welcome to the Cornish Country Hospital was published by Boldwood Books on November 22nd.

A new start…

When Danni Carter moves to Cornwall from London, she hopes it will be the fresh start she so desperately needs. She’s nervous, but hopefully the change of scene will help her to finally forget her feelings for Lucas Newman, a man she can never be with, because he’s already engaged to Danni’s best friend, Esther.

An Impossible Dilemma…

But when Lucas and Esther decide to follow Danni to Cornwall, and both announce they will be working with her at the new St Piran’s hospital, Danni is thrown into turmoil again. She can’t lose Esther, but being near Lucas is getting harder to deal with. Will she have to give up her new life before it’s even started?

Throwing herself into work, Danni finds herself drawn to new patient, Connie Berrycloth, a woman Danni knows has dark secrets of her own. Secrets that are about to be revealed….

As the two women form a friendship, Danni begins to realise that letting go of her dreams might be the only way of holding on to the people she loves.

 My Thoughts

This is the start of another series by Jo Bartlett with a medical focus which looks at the lives of staff connected with the Country Hospital. There are some familiar faces from her Cornish Midwife series and of course, the beautiful setting of Cornwall shines through the story. Danni has moved away from London, back to Cornwall to try to put behind her her feelings for her best friend's fiance, Lucas. A skilled doctor in the A & E Department, you see how her work overlaps with her personal life due to her caring and dedication to her patients.

    Family and friendship seem to overlap with Danni as she gets so much emotional support from her friends. As the story develops, you see how she has to reevaluate her feelings and consider whether what she felt for Lucas was based on solid ground. You can see from some of her colleagues' reactions to Lucas what sort of a character he actually is. I loved this first in the series, especially the romance which was bubbling away and the descriptions of her life in Cornwall, with coastal dog walks and windswept beaches.  There is huge potential for many future storylines and all I can say is,' Bring it on!'

In short: an uplifting read with great potential
