See the Stars by Eleanor Ray #Review

See the Stars by Eleanor Ray will be  published on February 5th 2026 by Piatkus .  Do you ever feel that life isn't going to plan?   When Alice Thorington collapses in the street after a particularly hellish day at work, she must finally admit to herself that her outwardly happy life - steady relationship, well-paid job, beautiful flat in the city - isn't everything she'd hoped it would be. Burnt out by long hours and living a life that doesn't fulfil her dreams, Alice returns home to Yorkshire.  Her childhood home brings complicated family dynamics, a rediscovery of her passion for stargazing and two new friends: Berti, a boy who finds it easier to count the stars than interact with people, and Matt, her brother's best friend and Alice's teenage crush. With each of them facing their own struggles, can the stars that meant so much to Alice in her past help them to find their way in the present?  Filled with heart and warmth, this uplifting novel...

What Next? by Shari Low #Review

In October 2020, I took part in the celebrations for the 20th Anniversary of Shari Low's What if? You can read my review here.  I then reviewed its sequel, What now? I am delighted therefore to be taking part in the tour to celebrate a third in the series, What next?

Two weeks, four friends and one big bucket list of secrets to unravel…

Val Murray and her best friend, Josie had been planning a ‘Thelma and Louise’ bucket list style holiday.

Now Josie is gone, and Val needs to make the trip before it’s too late.

But Val doesn’t want to do it alone, so she enlists the help of her nieces, Carly and Carole, and their best pal, Jess, who jump at the chance to join Val on a trip of a lifetime.

What Val doesn’t realise is that Carly, Carole and Jess are all at turning points in their own lives, nursing crushing secrets, lies and betrayals.

Somewhere between Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York they all hit a crossroads and have to decide if they want to return to the lives they left behind or let Josie’s last wishes take them on a brand new adventure.

 My Thoughts

In What Next? you meet up with Carly who should have everything she has ever wanted within her grasp. However, life is not that uncomplicated and Carly realises just what she is about to miss- her life back in the UK. There is plenty of humour in this romcom as Carly and her friends return to the USA and cause quite a lot of havoc as they try to finish their friend, Josie's bucket list which she was not able to fulfil. Val, Carly, Carole and Jess are firm friends who know each other back to front. They all have their own concerns which have to be worked through.

This is a life affirming book, full of warmth and wit. Friendship and family are both central themes. There are also some poignant moments for what might have been. Overall, the friends will make you laugh, especially Aunt Val, but you can't help but like them all and wish them well.

In short a fast paced romcom full of laughs
