The Girl in Red by John Nicholl # Review

Today, I am welcoming John Nicholl to the blog for the celebrations for his latest thrilller, The Girl In Red.

Kathy thought she’d met her soulmate. But Police Inspector Michael Conner’s behaviour changes on the day of their wedding.

Showing his true colours for the first time, Conner becomes increasingly manipulative, controlling and cruel as the months' pass.

When Kathy tries to escape, Connor does his best to convince everyone that she is mentally ill. But Anna, Kathy’s identical twin sister, doesn’t believe it.

After a tragic event, Kathy decides enough is enough and elicits Anna’s help to rid herself of Connor for good.

But will Connor simply let Kathy walk away or have the sisters bitten off more than they can chew?

My Thoughts

This was a thriller which I definitely read in one go, only pausing for the odd moment, before continuing to  read the story. You are engrossed in the story, seeing the story through Kathy's eyes and at times, I felt the way her husband behaved towards her was unbearable. The chapters where he featured I began to feel were insufferable and the tension was high.

It is interesting to uncover how society wants to believe those in authority and how some can manipulate people's reactions according to how they want the narrative to play out. If you like a fast paced psychological thriller which will leave you looking through your fingers. give this a try. It is worth it!

In short: Desprerate measure are called for in this psychological thriller.
