Maddy's Christmas Wedding by Rosie Green #LittleDuckPondCafeBook37#review

Here we are at Book 37 in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series! Maddie's Christmas Wedding is the latest novella by Rosie Green.   With the wedding of the year approaching, excitement is running high at the cafĂ©! But there's just one problem. Maddy is grappling with a secret. Could it derail all of hers and Jack's glorious plans for their big day? Will there actually be a wedding?   My Thoughts In this latest festive story, we are taken out of Sunnybrook, in fact, out of the country and taken for a wintry stay in Lapland. It is Maddy's hen party gathering so some of the Little Duck Pond characters are along too. The story continues on from the earlier Cosy Nights and Snowball Fights . The setting is idyllic and so different to life at home. Everything shimmers and shines in the snow and the temperatures are extreme. Maddy should be having the time of her life but she finds that she has a lot on her mind and a heartbreaking decision to make.     With the men le...

Spring at Lavender Bay by Sarah Bennett ** Blog Tour Review & Giveaway**

I'm delighted to welcome you to Books, Life and Everything for my stop on the blog tour to celebrate the first book in Sarah Bennett's latest series, Spring at Lavender Bay. I also have a fantastic Giveaway - does a Kindle Fire 7 interest you? Full details on how to enter are at the foot of this post. (Sorry, UK only)
A season for change…?

Beth Reynolds loved growing up close to Eleanor’s Emporium – a bric-a-brac shop full of wonders on Lavender Bay. Devastated to learn that Eleanor has died, she returns home from London immediately and is shocked to discover that the elderly lady has left the shop to her!

Vowing to restore it to its former glory, she only intends to stay until the end of the season. Although the longer she spends in the colourful seaside town, the more she falls back in love with everything she left behind…and quite possibly, with her best friend Eliza’s older brother, local chef Sam Barnes!

Why didn’t she notice he was quite this gorgeous before? And will their spring fling be enough to convince her to stay?

Don’t miss Spring at Lavender Bay, the first book in the enchanting Lavender Bay trilogy! Perfect for fans of Trisha Ashley, Rachael Lucas and Hilary Boyd.

Book 1: Spring at Lavender Bay
Book 2: Summer at Lavender Bay
Book 3: Snowflakes at Lavender Bay

My Thoughts

As the opening book in a new series, I found plenty to entice me in and make me want to stay. The three friends are well established, each with their own individual character and back story. This opener concentrates on Beth, who has moved away with dreams of making it big in the Big Smoke. Of course she has been badly let down and when we meet her, she is disillusioned with her London life. She is ready for a change, which makes it the ideal starting off point for her story. The story celebrates friendship and looking out for each other and shows that childhood ties can bind us deeply.

The other side of the equation, for Beth, seems to be Sam- or is it? The setting is gorgeous and the descriptions of life in the seaside town lifted my heart a little. It is the ideal escapist read, especially in midwinter when the snow is threatening outside. I could absolutely visualise Eleanor's Emporium with its eclectic mix of local artists and seaside kitsch. It will be great to read Eliza and Libby's stories and I hope, check in with Beth along the way.

In short: fun, friendship, flirting...and love

About the Author

Sarah Bennett has been reading for as long as she can remember.
Raised in a family of bookworms, her love affair with books of all genres has culminated in the ultimate Happy Ever After – getting to write her own stories to share with others.

Born and raised in a military family, she is happily married to her own Officer (who is sometimes even A Gentleman). Home is wherever he lays his hat, and life has taught them both that the best family is the one you create from friends as well as relatives.

When not reading or writing, Sarah is a devotee of afternoon naps and sailing the high seas, but only on vessels large enough to accommodate a casino and a choice of restaurants.

Sarah is the author of the Butterfly Cove trilogy, published by HQ Digital UK.

Her new series is set in the beautiful seaside town of Lavender Bay, and will follow the lives of three best friends - Beth, Eliza and Libby.
